The situation escalates when Remus confronts Imogen, resulting in her murder. He claims temporary insanity during his trial and is acquitted, but his once-thriving business is in ruins.
After Prohibition ends in 1933, Remus lives in obscurity, having lost his wealth and influence. His story, marked by ambition, crime, and tragedy, reflects the tumultuous nature of the Roaring Twenties and the eventual downfall of a man who once ruled the bootlegging world. Remus dies in 1952, largely forgotten, overshadowed by more infamous figures like Al Capone.
