EP476 // Is Your Plate Too Full? Mom Burnout Fix: How to Say No, Delegate, and Stop Doing It All
The Busy Vibrant Mom - Strategic Time Management, Home Organization, Productivity, Christian Mom, Christian Parenting, DeclutterShow Notes
Quick question for you: when was the last time you felt truly caught up? And I don't mean "I answered the urgent emails" or "the laundry is technically under control." I mean actually, fully caught up — like you could exhale. If you're sitting there thinking, um... I have no idea, friend, you are not alone. And today I want to talk about exactly why that happens — because it is not a problem. It is a capacity problem. And capacity problems can be fixed. Here's the thing I have been sitting with lately. For years, when I saw an exhausted mom, I assumed the fix was a better schedule. An earlier bedtime. A tighter morning routine. More organization. And listen, you know I love a good plan. But the more I work with busy moms — and the more honest I get about my own life — the more I am convinced that sometimes the problem is not that we do not know how to manage everything. It is that we are trying to manage too much. Too many responsibilities that were never fully ours to carry. Too many tasks that "only take five minutes." Too many things we automatically pick back up, even after we handed them off. If you are curious about this try tracking your time by doing a time audit. Count the number of times you caught yourself doing a task that was already someone else’s job. Not something only you could do. Already delegated, and somehow back on your plate anyway. These are tasks like empty the dishwasher, do the dishes, put away groceries, start chopping veggies, sort the laundry, fold the laundry, pick up the living room, etc. . So today's episode is all about that gap — the difference between delegating a task and actually transferring ownership of it. We are talking about why saying yes feels so much easier in the moment, why "it will just take five minutes" is one of the sneakiest traps in a mom's day, and the practical, real-life way to start taking things off your plate for good — not just in theory, but in a way that actually sticks. This is such a practical episode, and I think you will walk away with at least one thing you can hand off this week — for real this week — that will make your days feel lighter almost immediately. So grab your coffee, take a deep breath, and let's dive in Quick Announcement The fall is a busy time.

Have you ever watched the news, or heard a story about something heartbreaking in the world, and thought: I care so much, but what can I actually do? Especially when your days are already full of carpool, work deadlines, and little people who need you. Friend, you are not alone. And today’s guest is going to show us that caring deeply and raising a family are not opposites. They can be woven together. I am so excited to introduce you to Hannah Munn. Hannah is the Global Advocate at Love Justice International, a Christian nonprofit working in more than 20 countries to stop human trafficking before it happens. For over a decade she has helped design, install, and monitor Love Justice’s transit monitoring model, and she has traveled to more than ten countries to do it. Today she lives in South Africa with her husband and three young children, balancing a calling, a career, and the everyday chaos of motherhood. In our conversation, we talk about:✨ What Love Justice does and how teams in bus stations, border crossings, and airports are intercepting potential victims before they are trafficked✨ How Hannah talks to her little ones about big, heavy things in a way that grows compassion instead of fear✨ The simple weekly dinner table rhythm that helps her family talk about feelings, gratitude, and kindness✨ Why her kids need to know they come before the mission✨ And the honest story of her season of burnout, and what happened within 24 hours of one very real prayer This is such a heartfelt episode, and I think you are going to walk away encouraged, challenged, and maybe with one new habit you can start at your own dinner table this week. I pray this episode blesses you! Michelle Quick Announcement
Have you ever gotten to Monday morning and felt like the week already won before it even started? No food plan, no idea what's happening with carpool, laundry still in the hamper, and you are just reacting your way through the next five days instead of actually leading them? Friend, you are not alone. And today I want to talk about exactly why that happens — because a hard week is not always a busy-life problem. Sometimes it is a weekend problem. The way we spend our weekend often determines how our whole week is going to feel. Today I am breaking down my top 10 weekend must-do's to make your week lighter — the simple, practical things I try to walk through each weekend so that Monday doesn't feel like a punch in the face. We are talking meals, groceries, logistics, cars, house projects, office and financial check-ins, work planning, relationships, rest, and spiritual renewal. This is such a practical episode — and I think you are going to walk away with at least two or three things you can start doing this very weekend that will make your whole week feel lighter and more manageable.
Have you ever known exactly what you needed to do — and still found a way to avoid doing it? You cleaned the kitchen instead. You reorganized a drawer nobody asked about. You did everything except the one thing that actually mattered. Friend, you are not alone. And today I want to talk about exactly why that happens — because procrastination is not a discipline problem. It is a pattern. And patterns can be interrupted. Today I am sharing eight practical tips to stop procrastinating — the real, doable strategies that actually move you from stuck to started. We are talking about working in focused sprints, the 2-minute rule, clearing out distractions and hurdles, matching your energy to your tasks, rewarding yourself along the way, caring for your body so you actually have the capacity to show up, and getting honest about the "why" behind what you are avoiding. This is such a practical episode — and I think you are going to walk away with at least two or three things you can put into practice today that will make starting feel so much easier. So grab your coffee, take a deep breath, and let's dive in. Quick Announcement
Have you ever gotten to November and thought — how is the holiday season already here, and why does it feel like it snuck up on me again? Friend, you are not alone. And today I want to talk about exactly why that happens — because it's not that you didn't have enough time. It's that you didn't have a plan in place before the season hit. I call it the holiday scramble. October turns into November, November turns into December, and suddenly you are trying to plan traditions, book activities, buy gifts, decorate, and keep everyone fed and functioning — all at the same time, all last minute. And by the time the holidays actually arrive, you are too exhausted to enjoy them. Today I am breaking down my top 10 quick tips to stay ahead of the holiday season — the exact things I do in my own home to make sure that when December hits, I'm not scrambling. I'm actually present. We are talking about:✨ Why one family meeting now saves you dozens of decisions later✨ The one thing you should book today, even if you cannot pay yet✨ How to handle Christmas cards, photos, and decorating without losing a single weekend to it✨ Why decluttering before the holidays sets up your whole next year✨ How to protect true rest during the days between Christmas and New Year's This is such a practical episode — and I think you are going to walk away with at least two or three things you can put in place this week that will make this entire season feel lighter and more enjoyable. So grab your coffee, take a deep breath, and let's dive in.
How many times today have you looked up from your phone and realized your kid was trying to get your attention — or looked over at your child and realized they were completely lost in a screen? Friend, you are not alone. And you are not a bad mom for struggling with this. Technology is literally designed to be addictive — for our kids AND for us. And navigating it as a parent in 2026 is one of the hardest things we face. Today I am sitting down with someone who has dedicated her career to helping families like yours find a better way — and I could not be more excited for this conversation. I am joined by Arlene Pellicane — bestselling author, speaker, and host of the Happy Home Podcast — and she is here to talk about her brand new book The Great Tech Reset: Reclaiming Real Life for Christian Families. This is not a book about throwing your phones in the ocean or banning screens forever. It is about something so much more practical and so much more powerful than that — helping your family use technology intentionally so it never replaces the relationships, the conversations, and the moments that matter most. In this episode we are talking about:✨ How much screen time is actually too much — and how to know when technology has crossed a line in your home✨ How to set healthy tech boundaries without constant conflict and pushback from your kids✨ What role AI should actually play in your children's lives✨ What to do if your child does not want to do anything besides play video games or scroll social media✨ How to start fresh if you feel like technology has already gotten out of hand in your home✨ And how to cultivate real meaningful connection in a world that is constantly pulling your family's attention in a hundred different directions This is such a timely, honest, and incredibly practical conversation — and whether your kids are little or teenagers I think you are going to walk away with something you can implement in your home this week. So grab your coffee — and maybe put your phone on, do not disturb this one — and let's dive in I pray this episode blesses you! Michelle Quick Reminder: The doors to the fall group coaching program are closed. If you are bummed that you missed out, we will do another round this spring before summer hits (so mark your calendar). In the meantime …
