This week's episode is all about income protection – the two Pauls chat about why it's the most important financial product you can have & why Paul M is always banging on about it! Basically, your income makes your world go around so if it unexpectedly disappears you need a back-up – the lads talk about how we pay for cover for our health, house, car & gadgets & we pay for that with our income so obviously we need to cover that too. They explain how this financial planning tool works to keep your income on the road if something goes wrong and gets you tax relief while you pay for it, how it differs from specified serious illness cover and they talk through different types of policies and detail about how much cover you needs and what it costs depending on your circumstances.

On this week's episode the two Pauls are joined by former rugby player Dev Toner. Dev talks about his retirement from rugby, seriously pivoting his career to qualifying as a financial advisor and now working with Paul Merriman as Head of Partnerships. He also talked about how he came to the decision not to pursue a coaching role and to leave the game altogether. Dev shares the sort of person he was in school, how his finally leaving rugby came about and how ready he was to finish up by then and being excited by the next chapter. He and Paul talk about the importance of structure when building a business and the impact Dev has had on his business. They all discuss retirement in the traditional sense, the ways it has changed and how some professions lend themselves to carrying on well beyond that time. Dev also shares memories of his last game, what he misses about the game and what he doesn’t and reveals his best and worst spends!
