Heavy Metal News & Interviews: The Loaded Radio Podcast

Show Notes

Jack Osbourne says the backlash to the family's AI Ozzy avatar "was my own fault," that people wrongly assumed "Ozzy Osbourne selling cell phones," and that building the "digital fingerprint" is about owning his father's IP the way Bob Marley's and Michael Jackson's estates do. Scott Penfold on why Jack is right about ownership and wrong about what people were actually reacting to, two days before Back To The Beginning hits theaters.

Also today: Kirk Windstein says Crowbar "start writing first of the year," with Down's Volume V, the first full Down album since 2007 (King Diamond included), due November 20. And Mudvayne's Greg Tribbett and his brother Tripp launch Dead Wyte with "Mother Trucker."

Niko Moilanen of Blind Channel joins Scott Penfold two weeks before Painstream, the band's sixth album and the first with every vocal on him, after what the band called twenty months of deliberate silence. Sharon Osbourne says Ozzy's doctors warned that Back To The Beginning "would kill him," that Ozzy answered "I know I'm dying... Scott Penfold on why that was the right call, with the Back To The Beginning film in theaters October 28.

Nirvana's Nevermind has passed AC/DC's Back In Black to become the sixth best-selling album of all time, by one thousand copies: 66,832,000 equivalent album sales to 66,831,000, per Chartmasters. AC/DC still lead on physical copies, 37 million to 30 million. Scott Penfold on how the count works, why the streaming number is the honest one, and the fact that should bother everyone: nothing released since 1991 is in the all-time top ten.

Slipknot drummer Eloy Casagrande says Clown told him on day one, "you don't have to be concerned about playing everything right," that the band "don't want to have another Joey in the band," and that the Brazilian rhythms Clown once shut down are now going into the studio. Scott Penfold on why that's the most important thing anyone has said about the next Slipknot album.
