Ezri Konsa: Stepping Up

In this episode of the Villa Podcast, Kate Tracey and Alan McInally sit down with Villa’s number four and vice-captain, Ezri Konsa, for an honest and reflective conversation about leadership, growth and staying grounded.

Ezri looks back at growing up in Newham, a football-mad part of London, and his early days at the legendary Senrab F.C. He reflects on being scouted by Charlton Athletic, coming through alongside talents such as Joe Gomez and Ademola Lookman, and whether he ever imagined himself playing anywhere other than centre-back.

Konsa also discusses the influence of Unai Emery on his development, not just tactically, but in terms of maturity and stepping up on the international stage with England.

He shares memories of signing for Aston Villa, his dad proudly taking photos on the day he joined, and the togetherness that defined the promotion season. Now vice-captain, Ezri opens up about responsibility, setting standards, and the importance of a tight-knit dressing room.
