#272 Tom Cronin — 26 Years in Finance, Burnout, Awakening & the Mission to Get One Billion People to Meditate

Good Humans with Cooper Chapman

Show Notes

This week I sat down with Tom Cronin, and this one goes deep in the best possible way.

Tom spent 26 years as a broker in finance. On paper he was successful. In reality he was drowning. Stress, anxiety, insomnia and panic attacks became constant companions. He questioned everything, including whether life was worth continuing.

Then something shifted. Through meditation and deep self inquiry he found clarity, peace and purpose. He left finance behind and stepped into the work his soul was calling for. He is now a meditation teacher, transformation coach, author of six books, creator of The Portal film and documentary, and founder of The Stillness Project, a global movement on a mission to inspire one billion people to sit in stillness daily.

This is a conversation about what happens when you stop running from your inner voice and start listening to it. Tom is warm, funny and one of the most grounded people I have sat across from.

In this episode we cover: 26 years in finance and the burnout that broke him open Questioning whether life was worth continuing How meditation changed everything Leaving a successful career to follow his purpose The Stillness Project and the mission to reach one billion people The Portal film and documentary Conscious leadership, stillness and what it means to live from the inside out What daily meditation actually does for your mind and life

I loved this one. Alexis has spent over a decade inside marketing, media and PR, so she knows exactly how our attention gets engineered. And she’s honest enough to call herself a tech addict too. Her new book Real: Reconnecting to Yourself in a World of Likes and Lies is three years in the making, and it’s all about how social media messes with who we think we are, and how to take that back. If you’ve ever closed an app feeling worse about yourself, this one’s for you.

This was a fascinating chat. Dr Joy Kong started out as a psychiatrist and addiction doctor before becoming one of the leading voices in stem cell therapy. She’s UCLA-trained, triple board-certified, and the founder of Chara Health in Los Angeles and the American Academy of Integrative Cell Therapy, where she trains doctors around the world. Joy cuts through the hype and tells it straight about what stem cells can and can’t do, and why she thinks we might be the first generation to reverse ageing. If you’re curious about longevity and where medicine is heading, you’ll love this one.

This week I sat down with Chris Mater, and this one is a masterclass in building a career by backing yourself at every turn.
