If you're following Lean Startup, then you know a critical piece is running experiments to validate your assumptions. But how do you craft the right experiments? Listen in to Ash Maurya, author of Running Lean and creator of LeanCanvas, to hear his latest ideas around crafting effective experiments that lead to breakthrough insights.Uploaded 21-08-13It's no accident that some of the biggest breakthrough business ideas have evolved from seemingly small and often unintended discoveries. Iterative innovation through experimentation isn't just limited to the "starting-up" stage but can be continuously applied to any organization bringing new products to market. Companies like Google, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Intuit all employ a culture of continuous experimentation in everything they do. But even though we have learned a lot about the mechanics of running innovation experiments through methodologies like the Lean Startup, crafting effective experiments that lead to breakthrough insights is still considered more art than science.Ash Maurya is the author of "Running Lean: How to Iterate from Plan A to a plan that works" and the founder of Spark59 whose mission is helping entrepreneurs succeed. Driven by the search for better and faster ways for building successful products, Ash has been rigorously testing Lean Startup techniques for the past 3.5 years. He serves as a mentor to several accelerators including TechStars, MaRS, Capital Factory, and has worked with companies from one-person startups to large enterprises like Intel, Dell, and Amazon. He continues to share his ongoing learning on his blog and by way of workshops and bootcamps that he teaches around the world.(Ash's mic wasn't on for the first 2 minutes of the presentation - the audio improves significantly around the 2 minute mark). Jeff Goldman an Immigration Lawyer from Boston taught a workshop entitled "Green Card Strategies and New Opportunities for Foreign Entrepreneurs," in April 2012 at the Harvard innovation lab. Uploaded 04-09-12In his presentation, Goldman discussed how the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services has announced that the H-1B nonimmigrant and National Interest Waiver immigrant visa categories will now be more friendly to foreign national entrepreneurs who are creating jobs in the US. This interactive workshop helped to clarify the viability of this new initiative; offered foreign national entrepreneurs a road-map which may make all the difference when filing immigration petitions; and helped start-up companies understand where they are heading when they have key personnel who have immigration considerations. Goldman shared strategies for documenting "significant impact in the field" required for National Interest Waivers; how an entrepreneur with his/her own start-up can prove a legitimate "employer—employee" relationship that is required for H-1B; and the best timing for filing immigration petitions. You can learn more about Jeff on his website http://jeffgoldmanimmigration.com/jeff-goldman-esq/ and contact him here http://jeffgoldmanimmigration.com/contact-us/Learn more about the Harvard Innovation Lab at http://i-lab.harvard.edu/ and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/innovationlab and like us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/harvardinnovationlab Learn more about your ad choices.
