Show Notes
Mathew Carter hosts the podcast ‘The Secret Life of Dads’ alongside his co-host Lawrence. Earlier this year, they launched their event ‘Pints & Ponytails’ where they invite dads to pubs to learn how to style female hairstyles so they can do their daughters’ hair. Mathew is dad to five-year-old daughter Rae and he & his wife Chessie King is expecting their second bub. We’ve had Chessie on the podcast before and we were so excited to have Mathew on too! In this episode, Steph chats with Mathew about his experience with postpartum depression after Rae was born, how he’s feeling mentally ahead of baby number two, going through IVF, and the feedback he’s getting from dads who attend their Pints & Ponytails events. Trigger warning: we briefly touch on suicide in this episode. If that brings up anything for you, Lifeline is available 24 hours a day on 13 11 14. More from Bump with Steph & Laura
Laura’s algorithm has been serving her a lot of parenting advice lately, and some of it is making her question decisions she already feels good about. Today, we’re unpacking Dr Erica Komisar’s views on daycare, the pressure to put motherhood ahead of everything else, and why so much parenting content leaves mums feeling guilty.
What's the pettiest thing you've ever done as a parent? We came across a hilarious TikTok from @kristenbright sharing some very petty parenting moments, and naturally, we had to unpack our own. From tiny acts of revenge to the ridiculous things we do when we're running on empty... this is a reminder that we all do it!
It feels like everyone around us is overwhelmed right now, so today we’re getting into why everything suddenly feels like a lot. We’re coming out of winter, the weather is warming up, life is getting busier, and there’s suddenly this pressure to get back into gear.
Today, we're so lucky to be sitting down with Shameless Media co-founder, Michelle Andrews.
