What Is Integrated Addiction Care? – Interprofessional Panel – Addiction Treatment Course
YaleCoursesShow Notes
🎥 This interprofessional panel brings together instructors from Yale University in medicine, physician associate programs, nursing, and public health to explore key issues in addiction treatment. Each discussion reflects the unique expertise and perspective of the panelists, offering a well-rounded approach to patient care. Uploaded 05-08-25📚 About the Course This course is designed with a singular goal: to improve the care you provide to your patients with substance use disorders. By delving into a model case performed by actors, seven Yale instructors from various fields provide techniques to screen your patients for substance use disorder risk, diagnose patients to gauge the severity of their use, directly manage treatment plans, refer out to treatment services, and navigate the various conditions that may limit your patient’s access to treatment. You will ultimately be prepared to provide compassionate and evidence-based care to a large population of patients living with addiction — a chronic, often relapsing-remitting disease, but a treatable one. This course is supported in part by SAMHSA of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of financial assistance awards from grant #1H79FG000023 totaling $249,900 and grant #3H79TI081968-02S1 from SAMHSA totaling $1,354,651 with 100 percent funded by SAMHSA/HHS. Introduction to Ancient Greek History (CLCV 205)Uploaded 21-11-08In this lecture, Professor Donald Kagan discusses the emergence of a new style of warfare among the Greeks, the hoplite phalanx. After discussing the panoply of the hoplite solider and the method of fighting, he argues that this style of fighting came about early in the life of the polis. In addition, he shows that the phalanx was almost invincible on the field. At the lecture's conclusion, he answers several questions from students about hoplite warfare in the Greek world.00:00 - Chapter 1. An Introduction to the Hoplite Phalanx06:33 - Chapter 2. Have you ever wondered how software guides delicate medical procedures? In this lesson, we introduce the Image Guided Neurosurgery (IGNS) example project, an anchoring case study to explore user needs, system requirements, and software design in medical applications. We'll delve into its three critical phases—planning, initialization, and guidance—and also touch upon the image-guided prostate biopsy example to illustrate key concepts like tissue deformation and real-time imaging.Uploaded 19-08-25🎯 Learning Objectives• Understand the purpose of the Image Guided Neurosurgery (IGNS) project as a case study for medical software development.• Identify and describe the three main phases of an IGNS procedure: planning, initialization, and guidance.• Explain the role of tracking technology and image registration in surgical navigation systems.• Recognize how principles of image-guided surgery, including deformation compensation, apply to other procedures like prostate biopsies. Frontiers/Controversies in Astrophysics (ASTR 160)Uploaded 29-09-08Professor Bailyn begins the class with a discussion of a recent New York Times article about the discovery of a new, earth-like planet. He then discusses concepts such as epicycles, dark energy and dark matter; imaginary ideas invented to explain 96% of the universe. The Anthropic Principle is introduced and the possibility of the multiverse is addressed. Finally, biological arguments are put forth for how complexity occurs on a cosmological scale. The lecture and course conclude with a discussion on the fine differences between science and philosophy.00:00 - Chapter 1. Calculations for an Earth-Like Planet08:23 - Chapter 2. The Civil War and Reconstruction Era, 1845-1877 (HIST 119)Uploaded 21-11-08This lecture focuses on the role of white southern terrorist violence in brining about the end of Reconstruction. Professor Blight begins with an account the Colfax Massacre. Colfax, Louisiana was the sight of the largest mass murder in U.S. history, when a white mob killed dozens of African Americans in the April of 1873. Two Supreme Court decisions would do in the judicial realm what the Colfax Massacre had done in the political. On the same day as the Colfax Massacre, the Supreme Court offered a narrow reading of the 14th Amendment in the Slaughterhouse cases, signaling a judicial retreat from the radicalism of the early Reconstruction years. The Cruikshank case, two years later, would overturn the convictions of the only three men sentenced for their involvement in Colfax, and marked another step away from reconstruction. Professor Blight concludes with the Panic of 1873 and the seemingly innumerable political scandals of the Grant Administration, suggesting the manner in which these events encouraged northerners to tire of the Reconstruction experiment by the early 1870s.00:00 - Chapter 1. Game Theory (ECON 159)Uploaded 20-11-08We apply the notion of Nash Equilibrium, first, to some more coordination games; in particular, the Battle of the Sexes. Then we analyze the classic Cournot model of imperfect competition between firms. We consider the difficulties in colluding in such settings, and we discuss the welfare consequences of the Cournot equilibrium as compared to monopoly and perfect competition.00:00 - Chapter 1.
