WILLIE POCHING | Toa Samoa assistant coach previews massive World Cup match against Tonga

The Rugby League World Cup garners significant attention as teams prepare for crucial matches. Willie Poching, a former player and current coach, expresses excitement about the upcoming rivalry match between Mate Matonga and Toa Samoa. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining focus during training, given the emotional stakes of the game, which has a rich history dating back 40 years.

Poching highlights the passionate fan base and the challenges posed by the match's scheduling, noting that a late Sunday kickoff may hinder viewership for supporters in Tonga, Samoa, and New Zealand. Despite the timing, he believes fans will still tune in to witness the intense competition. As both teams aim for victory, Poching insists they will treat the match as a quarterfinal, focusing on their performance without relying on other outcomes in the tournament.
