The Dylan Gemelli PodcastShow Notes
Welcome to my special 175th EPISODE! This is also my very first special roundtable interview! I could not have had two better than Dr. Josh Axe and Dr. Will Cole as my first guests! These roundtables are a gathering of the most brilliant and impactful minds, coming together to offer deep thoughts and insights of the most discussed aspects of health, wellness and faith! These roundtables will be continuing as special episodes each month to continue to do God's work in bringing as many of us together to make the biggest impact possible!! ENJOY!! For years, I thought that if I ate right, trained hard, stayed disciplined, and took care of my body, I was doing everything I needed to stay healthy. But I've learned that being healthy on the outside doesn't always mean everything is healthy on the inside. My father passed away from a heart attack at just 59 years old. And despite everything I've done to take care of myself, I recently discovered that I have elevated Lp(a) levels and plaque in my arteries. That was a wake-up call. It made me realize just how much can be happening inside our bodies without us ever knowing it. That's why this conversation with Dr. Josh Axe and Dr. Will Cole was so important to me. Dr. Josh Axe and Dr. Will Cole are leading voices in functional medicine, bestselling authors, and longtime advocates for looking beyond symptoms to understand the underlying factors affecting our health. Together, they've written Heal Your Cells, a book exploring how cellular health, inflammation, metabolism, and lifestyle may influence chronic disease and the aging process. We talked about how our organs can age faster than our bodies, the hidden risks of heart disease, and how stress and trauma affect our health. One of the most meaningful parts for me was discussing faith and how true health goes beyond the physical. It's about caring for our minds, bodies, and our relationship with God. And it made me wonder: What if the biggest threats to our health are the things we can't see or feel until it's too late?
In This Episode, We Talk About: ■ Cellular health, mitochondria, and chronic disease■ The blood markers that may reveal problems before symptoms appear■ Insulin resistance, inflammation, and metabolic health■ How stress, childhood trauma, and the nervous system affect the body■ The connection between faith, emotional healing, and physical health■ Gut health, exercise, and the importance of personalized nutrition■ Why looking healthy doesn't always mean being healthy

Over the years, I've had the privilege of learning from some incredible doctors, experts, and people from all walks of life. And through my work, my podcast, and the thousands of conversations I've had, I've started noticing something that genuinely concerns me. People don't know who to trust anymore. There's so much conflicting information out there, especially when it comes to health, nutrition, supplements, and the advice we see on social media. Everyone seems to have an answer, everyone claims to be an expert, and too many people are more interested in selling you something than actually helping you. But something I've learned over the years, including through my own mistakes, is that being knowledgeable doesn't mean having all the answers. I've had to learn to admit when I'm wrong, question my own beliefs, and understand that what works for one person might not work for another. That's why I wanted to dedicate this episode to something I believe everyone needs to understand: how to recognize someone you shouldn't trust.
I've spent years learning about health, longevity, supplements, and ways to optimize the human body. And one thing I've learned is that there's always something new to discover. But there's also a lot of misinformation out there, especially when it comes to supplements and products promising to improve our health. That's why I believe it's so important to understand the science behind what we're putting into our bodies, rather than simply trusting what's written on a label.
I've spent a big part of my life focused on health, fitness, nutrition, and finding ways to get the most out of my body. But one thing I never paid nearly enough attention to was my mouth. I've had around 25 root canals and plenty of dental work over the years. And despite everything I've learned about health, I never really stopped to question how all of that might be affecting the rest of my body. That's one of the reasons I've been looking forward to this conversation for almost eight months.
He passed his cardiac stress test with flying colors and received a clean bill of health from his doctors. Shortly afterward, he suffered a heart attack that nearly killed him. Determined to understand what went wrong, he began investigating the hidden risks of heart disease, insulin resistance, and the foods we consume every day. He is Dr. Daniel Trevor, a heart attack survivor, citizen scientist, serial entrepreneur, and author of Unholy Trinity: How Carbs, Sugar & Oils Make Us Fat, Sick & Addicted and How to Escape Their Grip. Drawing on more than 1,200 scientific references, Trevor challenges conventional nutrition advice and explores how the modern food industry, pharmaceutical companies, and healthcare system may influence our health.
He was only 33 years old, physically fit, and had normal cholesterol results. Yet an 85% blockage in one of his heart's most important arteries nearly cost him his life.
