If Bibles Could Talk

We Don't Need To Fit In Just For The Crowd - Galatians 2:11-14

If Bibles Could Talk

Show Notes

From the story of Paul and Peter in Antioch.

The episode reads into the biblical account from Galatians where apostle Peter compromised his beliefs out of a desire for social acceptance.

In the city of Antioch, Peter initially shared meals with Gentile believers, but he later distanced himself to avoid criticism from visiting traditional Jews. This behavior prompted a public rebuke from Paul, who accused Peter of hypocrisy and of undermining the core message of the gospel. By giving in to peer pressure, Peter had created division within the church and improperly suggested that cultural customs were superior to divine grace.

Ultimately, the dangers of conformity emphasizes that true convictions require individuals to stand up for what is right even when facing disapproval from the crowd.
