I’ve been experiencing a lot of transitions lately, and with those transitions I’ve been feeling a heightened sense of vulnerability around belonging. This feeling isn’t new for me. In fact, I’ve often struggled with feeling like I didn’t ‘belong’. The way I navigate these feelings has changed for the better, though, and today I’ll share how.
We’ll talk about the differences between belonging and fitting in, and how external validation pales in comparison to internal validation. Then, I’ll guide you through a short meditation you can use at any time to help you ground into yourself when the ache to belong becomes overwhelming.
Today on WithIn:
Why the feeling of belonging seems so important
The difference between belonging and fitting in
Why internal validation and self-love are more important that external validation
A guided mediation to help you strengthen your internal validation

I posted a reel last week about how I parent teens as a sober mom, and it led to a lot of important questions popping up in my DMs: Do my kids drink? What are my rules around drinking? Do I talk to my kids about alcohol?
There are so many things in midlife that feel ungrounding. Our bodies are changing in wildly uncomfortable ways. Our children are getting older (and maybe leaving the nest). We’re facing the reality of aging parents. And then there’s something that I hear so many women speak about: a persistent midlife itch that there is something more for us. A next chapter. A new calling. Yet, what exactly that ‘new thing’ is rarely feels clear. So today, we’re going to talk about it:
Jaemi Pierson is one of the most inspiring people I follow on Instagram, so I had to bring her wisdom straight to you on WithIn!
Last week I found myself in my closet, overcome by a heavy bout of The Sunday Scaries - It wasn’t anxiety about the approaching Monday, but anxiety about the entire fall season. After a beautiful summer focused on my family, the realities of the fall felt like too much to face.
