Our Q1 2026 Dividend Portfolio Review | Nike's Dividend Risk & Evolution AB Drama | Ep. 290
Dividend TalkShow Notes
It's Easter weekend and we're reviewing our Q1 2026 dividend portfolios. Derek's portfolio hit €130K, with projected annual dividend income of €25.2K, while EDGI saw 18.7% quarter-over-quarter dividend income growth and a portfolio that's doubled in just three and a half years. We kick things off with some market news as billionaire Kenneth Dart's stake in Evolution AB crossing 30% via equity swaps (and why that matters), plus why EDGI is seriously unimpressed with Evolution's annual report copy-paste job. Then it's onto Nike: with EPS below the dividend and activist investors circling, how safe is that payout really? In the main segment, we walk through our full Q1 portfolios – what we bought, what we sold, and why Derek is on a tax efficiency drive. We also discuss the rotation from tech into value stocks and why dividend growth portfolios quietly shone when markets wobbled. Listener questions cover: Carrefour as a dividend play, the DRIP timing debate on Interactive Brokers, covered call ETFs vs. organic dividend growth, the Unilever/McCormick sale and what it means for shareholders, whether to trade value stocks, and the Easter Bunny stock pick of the episode. Mega deals, dividend stocks, and lots of listener questions. It was a busy week in the market, so Edgi and Derek catch up on the news and work through your questions. In this episode: Schneider Electric wants to buy PTC for €22.6 billion. Does the deal make sense, and is a 42% premium too much? Starbucks is reportedly looking at Chipotle. Where is the synergy, and what does it mean for the dividend? Starlink Mobile wants to compete with Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, and Verizon’s share price took a hit. Ireland’s new investment account: €12,000 per year, tax-free up to €50,000, and what it means for Irish investors. PepsiCo earnings, the Starbucks dividend hike of 1.6% and Tesco’s 5.2% increase to its interim dividend.
Quarter three is done, so it's time to count the dividends. In episode 309 we share our Q3 2026 dividend portfolio reviews with real numbers.Edgi is now at 89% of his FIRE target. His net dividend income grew 10.4% on average this quarter, and he has started paying down his variable-rate mortgage. Derek collected just over €2,000 in dividends this quarter, his portfolio has reached €161K, and he now earns about €19 a day after tax.We also talk about Accenture's earnings (shares up 20% on the day and a 5% dividend hike), the Netherlands' plan to tax dividends at 36%, and Ireland possibly scrapping deemed disposal.
Niklas from Heavy Moat Investments is back. Last time he barely cared about dividends. Now 80% of his portfolio pays one. We talk about how becoming a dad changed the way he looks at risk, why he raised his hurdle rate to 15-20%, why buybacks often disappoint, and how Edenred became his biggest position after trading at around 5x cash flow. Also this week: Novo Nordisk's messy capital markets day, dividend hikes from T-Mobile US and GE Healthcare, and your questions on consumer staples, insurers and AI, Engie and Enel, BIPC, 5% Treasuries and Niklas's top pick, InnoScripta.Get free samples of our premium newsletter: https://dividendtalk.eu/download-your-free-samples/ Join us on Discord: https://discord.gg/nJyt9KWAB5Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/groups/dividendtalk Niklas on Substack: https://heavymoatinvestments.substack.com or @stonkmetal on X
The Fed has raised rates for the first time since 2023. So what does that mean for REITs like Realty Income, Agree Realty and VICI? We explain why real estate stocks are so sensitive to interest rates, compare them with a 5% US Treasury, and share the prices where we'd start buying again. Also this week: Warren Buffett's full retirement, Nike losing Mbappé to On, and dividend raises from Texas Instruments, McDonald's (now a Dividend King), Microsoft, Philip Morris and JPMorgan.Your questions: pre-market trading, how we use AI for stock research, high yield vs dividend growth, Fielmann, TFF Group and why Edgi still holds Evolution AB.Get free samples of our premium newsletter: https://dividendtalk.eu/download-your-free-samples/ Join us Real Life Meetup in Budapest - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeD8Hs0Hop16D1upiFlUw4SGjfLh2nim1kmb17ASMYGBJYBaw/viewform?usp=header on Discord: https://discord.gg/nJyt9KWAB5Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dividendtalkNot financial advice.
