Sanctuary! What happens when DS9 fumbles really hard at doing a refugee crisis allegory while pairing it with a bunch of super ugly aliens? This thing!

More from Newbie Star Trek
The House of Quark! Witness the rise of the most honorable Ferengi-led family in the Klingon Empire! This is a technically true statement! Quark got there by confronting the Klingons with their greatest fear: taxes!
TNG Season 5 Tier List! Conventional fandom wisdom says that everything went downhill after season 4, but this might be... the best TNG season so far? Tune in to see how Dan and Marvin rank this wacky season!
The Search, Part II! Odo finds his family and learns about Changelings and where he came from! How heartwarming! Meanwhile, Sisko and gang get rescued, and now the Dominion and the Federation are getting all buddy buddy. How suspicious! Two completely separate plots! How strange!
Ask a Trek Expert with Marc Scott Zicree! "First Contact" is considered one of the best episodes of TNG ever made, and "Far Beyond the Stars" is considered one of the best episodes of DS9 ever made, perhaps all of Star Trek. And Marc Scott Zicree wrote the story for BOTH of them! He's also had a very long writing career before and after that, including working on many beloved animated shows like He-Man, The Real Ghostbusters, Super Friends, as well as live-action sci-fi shows like Babylon 5, Sliders, TekWar, and much more. He's also had quite an independent streak over the past 20 years or so, writing, directing, and helping to finance the Star Trek fan film "World Enough and Time," his own sci-fi series Space Command, and now the Showrunners Network, an initiative he and his wife, Elaine Zicree, are launching together to help get multiple independent sci-fi projects funded at once. Marvin interviewed him solo because, well... dicussing "Far Beyond the Stars" would result in quite a few spoilers for our newbies. But it was a fascinating chat with an industry veteran!
The Search, Part I! How does Sisko respond when faced with an existential crisis that threatens the entire Federation? He speaks softly and carries a big Defiant! Also, Odo REALLY needs to get to this friggin' nebula, sheesh!
