As deliberations continue in the Lindsay Clancy trial, the crowd of supporters dressed in pink outside the Plymouth courthouse keeps growing — can the jury really stay untouched by it all?
In this episode of Criminally Obsessed, investigative reporter Anne Emerson sits down with NBC10 reporter Nicole Moeder, who has covered the Lindsay Clancy case from day one through jury selection and nearly every day of testimony as it evolved from local coverage to a national story. Moeder details the shift over six weeks outside the courthouse, from overflowing parking lots to supporters traveling from as far as Chicago and the UK, and why so many say they feel a personal connection to Lindsay Clancy's story, plus why she says online conspiracy theories about Patrick Clancy don't match what she's actually observed in and around the courtroom. She also shares her read on how the jury — nine women and three men — has held up under the weight of the testimony as the Lindsay Clancy verdict watch continues.
As the jury entered its fourth day of deliberations, they told Judge Sullivan they were unable to reach a unanimous decision on whether Lindsay Clancy was criminally responsible under the law, and the judge encouraged them to continue deliberating and to keep their instructions in mind. The jury ended the day without reaching a verdict.
