Why Eshaan Akbar Thinks Alcohol Makes Food Taste Worse
At The Bar | Dream Drinks and Great Company 🍸Show Notes
Comedian Eshaan Akbar joins us At The Bar with a controversial theory: alcohol doesn’t improve food - it ruins it.
The comedian, writer and actor - whose credits include Sex Education, Live at the Apollo and Spitting Image - explains why he thinks we’ve been “gaslit” into pairing alcohol with food, why beer has no place alongside a curry and why he’d rather have a Coke Zero with a steak than a glass of red wine.
We also discover that he’s somehow NEVER had a hangover, despite only starting drinking at 24, hear why he thinks marriage is “a waste of time”, debate whether kids belong in pubs and find out what happened when he joined the final series of Sex Education without really knowing who Asa Butterfield was.
Plus: Japanese Picklebacks, his undying love for Spiced Rum & Diet Coke, Hugo Spritzes, celebrity banking, terrible house parties and a Dream Drink inspired by the mango sticky rice that reminded Eshaan of his late mum.
And, somewhere along the way, Jack finally snaps.
