The Day One German finale, with Felix and Leonie. Graduation day: a full German news bulletin, election, heatwave, strike, sport, built entirely from the last twenty days, read twice like real radio. Then the handover: you're ready for LinguaWire A1 Daily German News, a new episode every day, two real news stories in slow, clear A1 German. Subscribe via the link in the show notes and your first real daily episode arrives tomorrow morning.
Episode nineteen of Day One German, with Felix and Leonie, the penultimate episode. Headlines don't speak full German; they speak telegram: no articles, often no verb. Today you learn to expand them back into sentences you already know, drill three real headlines built entirely from series vocabulary, and pick up the diplomacy kit. Tomorrow: graduation, a full German news bulletin.
Episode eighteen of Day One German, with Felix and Leonie. Yesterday the past, today the future: werden plus a verb at the end, the bracket again. Plus the business kit (the company, the factory, jobs, to build, to create) and the quirk that werden moonlights: with another verb at the end it means 'will'; on its own it can mean 'become' or 'get'. Today's sentence: Die Firma wird eine neue Fabrik bauen und dreitausend Jobs schaffen.
Episode seventeen of Day One German, with Felix and Leonie. A milestone: your first full two-sentence news story, exactly as breaking news is written. Today: the earthquake (a compound you can dismantle yourself), the past tense doing real work, and the sentence bracket, German's habit of opening a verb at position two and closing it at the very end. Today's story: Ein Erdbeben hat die Region in der Nacht getroffen. Viele Menschen haben ihre Häuser verloren.
Episode sixteen of Day One German, with Felix and Leonie. Final week. News is mostly about things that already happened, so today you learn to RECOGNISE the German past: haben plus a ge- word. You don't need to build it yet; you need to hear it. Plus war and peace, the vocabulary of the biggest stories. Today's sentence: Der Präsident hat gestern gesagt: Der Krieg ist vorbei.
