Inspiring a New Generation of Gaeilgeoirí with Julie Anne de Brún

That'll Teach You

Show Notes

Irish is cool now - there's no getting away from it. We just need that little push to make sure that our children realise it as well! Julie-Anne de Brún is back on the podcast to give some practical tips on how to enthuse the Gaeilge learners in your classroom and home. Whether it's developing fun challenges and learning history through Irish place names, or bringing Gaeilge to every single aspect of your teaching, Julie-Anne has ideas for everything. We talk about teaching Gaeilge to children who don't have Gaeilge in their family, and how they can actually bring a greater enthusiasm and less fear to the language than those whose parents might have struggled with Irish themselves. Listen and learn - there are so many ideas to bring into your teaching. Most importantly, enjoy the midterm break!

With no progress on reducing class sizes (which are still the largest in Europe), a lack of understanding of how to manage special education, and a total failure to assess the Department of Education's own data and failings and make positive changes, Ciara points out shortfall after shortfall in Budget 2027.
