More from LOVE SOMEONE with Delilah
At the beginning of October, I shared my Book Club choice with you: "Babe: Elaboratio, A Tribute To My Mother," by Harry Connick, Jr. It's a remarkable book, about a remarkable woman; his mom. Today, Harry's come on board to tell us all about the orchestral piece he wrote and performed at Carnegie Hall on what would have been his mom's 100th birthday, the subsequent release of that recording, and of course, the accompanying book, rich with photos and memories. The way "Babe" Connick lived and loved shaped Harry in profound and wonderful ways. This is one of the most beautiful conversations I've had on LOVE SOMEONE. Please do come in. A chat with EGOT-winning John Legend was looooong overdue! I'm sure glad we had a chance to sit down and talk, because he had so much to fill me in on! His new 16-track studio album,"Muse," co-written and wholly produced by Pharrell Williams will be available on October 23. "Imitation of Life," the off-broadway play he's written the entire score for, debuts at The Shedd in November, and he's portraying Harry Belafonte in an upcoming movie called "The Road Home". He shares all the deets on this episode of LOVE SOMEONE, so come on in and enjoy!! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
I've been sharing fun summer reads on my Delilah Book Club page, one of them titled, "Every Beat After," by Sara B. Larson. It's a super sweet love story, playing out in a little bakery in Scottsdale, Arizona. Liv is a heart transplant survivor, living in the fragile space between gratitude and fear. Running her family's cozy -but financially struggling- bakery gives her purpose. Hunter's a guarded, cynical, marketing expert who steps in with a plan to save the bakery... When all kinds of sparks fly! This is Sara's adult novel debut and she's pretty excited about it. She joins us today to talk about where her inspiration for the book came from, how she juggles writing, parenting, and running a commercial preschool, and so much more. Drop on in! Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, D.C., has written several books exploring courage, turning points, and faith. These books, for adults, younger readers, and now, children, focus on how ordinary people learn to be brave through choices they make every day. Her new children's picture book is rooted in a simple idea; Bravery isn't something we're born with, it's something we practice. Through everyday moments that may seem small to adults but feel big to children, "I Can Learn to Be Brave" encourages young readers to discover courage one step at a time. What an inspiring conversation this is, with an insightful (and delightful) guest! Join us! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
David Nail, the multi-platinum singer-songwriter from Kennett, Missouri came onto the music scene hard with multiple No.1 hits like “Let It Rain”, “Whatever She’s Got,” and ,“Red Light,” earning him multiple GRAMMY and ACM nominations. Now he's is entering a powerful new chapter with Flowers, his first full-length album after multiple EP releases. The title and cover art are dedicated to his late mother, Donna, even using her handwriting for the title, "Flowers." Today, he tell us, his music is no longer abut chasing trends, but about being authentic. Give this conversation a listen, and then find the singles that have been released from Flowers and I bet you'll agree he's done it! ~ Delilah See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
