Bible Stories For Sleep | 1 Kings 13 | The Prophet Who Fell at the Oak Tree | Sacred Slumber
Sacred SlumberShow Notes
Tonight we travel back to a kingdom cracked down the middle, to an altar at Bethel, and to a man whose name the ancient text never gives us. He walked out of Judah into hostile territory. He stood before a king surrounded by guards and priests and spoke a judgment against the altar itself — naming a king who would not be born for another three hundred years. He watched the stone split. He watched the king's hand wither in the air. He prayed for the man who had just tried to arrest him, refused the reward, and turned toward home by a different road, exactly as he had been instructed. And then, tired and far from home, he sat down under an oak tree. And an old man sat down beside him and said something that sounded enough like truth. This is the story of the man of God from Judah — a story about clear instructions, plausible voices, and the quiet difference between resting and stopping short. It is also a story about a word spoken into apparent silence, and what happened when a young king named Josiah stood at a broken altar three centuries later and asked whose tomb that was.

Bible sleep story about Paul and Elymas the sorcerer, from Acts 13. On the island of Cyprus, a Roman governor named Sergius Paulus asks to hear the word of God. This calm, cinematic Bible story for sleep follows Barnabas and Saul from the church in Antioch across the Mediterranean to Salamis and Paphos. Bible sleep story about Jesus healing the Canaanite woman’s daughter, from Matthew chapter fifteen and Mark chapter seven. This is a calm, faith-filled Christian bedtime story to help you relax, unwind, and fall asleep peacefully. Tonight we travel beyond Galilee to the ancient coastal cities of Tyre and Sidon. There, a desperate mother, an outsider with no claim on Israel’s promises, goes searching for Jesus. She meets silence and the disciples’ impatience, and then Jesus speaks a hard saying about the children’s bread. Still she refuses to give up. Her answer, “even the dogs eat the crumbs,” leads to one of the most remarkable declarations of faith in the Gospels: “O woman, great is your faith.”
