Is the ‘establishment’ out to destroy Reform?

The Daily T

Show Notes

In today’s episode of The Daily T, Camilla Tominey and Tim Stanley discuss the ITV News investigation into Reform UK, which saw councillors filmed on camera expressing racist and sexist views. They discuss whether this expose is a case of “a few bad apples” or reflects an attitude within the political party itself. Camilla and Tim react to the views expressed by the Reform councillors in the undercover film, and explore whether those views are truly reflective of parts of electorate, and the influence of mass migration on attitudes towards nationalism and race. They also debate whether there is an unfair focus on Reform in contrast to its mainstream party rivals.

Elsewhere, Camilla is joined by Jacob Rees-Mogg sit down with ex-SAS reservist David Davis to talk about Britain's preparedness for war, as a new poll shows almost half of Brits admit there would be no cirumstance where they'd take up arms and fight for their country.

Kruger, Reform UK’s head of policy, who is helping prepare the party for government, also claimed that the party was facing a concerted campaign against it from the press, trade unions and even the House of Lords. In Tuesday’s episode of The Daily T, Camilla Tominey and Tim Stanley discuss Andy Burnham’s “cringe” decision to appear on LadBible’s “Agree to Disagree” podcast, where the Prime Minister answered questions such as “Is VAR ruining football?” and “What is your favourite Oasis song?”. Camilla and Tim ask whether the Prime Minister was “fiddling while Britain burns” by focusing on “fixing little irritants” and making social media appearances rather than addressing huge issues such as youth unemployment. They are also joined by Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, a former Army colonel, to discuss the £2bn cut from front-line Army equipment. He accuses Wes Streeting, the Defence Secretary, and John Healey, the Chancellor, of misunderstanding their jobs and lacking integrity over the planned cuts to defence spending.
