Dr. Kristen Lo Sicco: Why Is My Hair Thinning? The Truth About Hair Loss
So When Do I Take My Clothes Off?Show Notes
Hair loss is something so many of us experience, but we don’t always know what’s actually causing it, or what we can do about it. In this episode, we sit down with board-certified dermatologist and alopecia expert Dr. Kristen Lo Sicco to get the real scoop on thinning hair, hair loss and what happens to our hair as we age.
We talk about everything from hormones, genetics, stress and nutritional deficiencies to the treatments that actually have evidence behind them, including minoxidil, supplements, PRP and red light therapy. Dr. Lo Sicco also answers some of our biggest questions: Is it ever too late to treat hair loss? Do expensive over-the-counter products really work? How long do you have to stay on treatments? And what should women know about hair-loss medications when trying to get pregnant?
Most importantly, we talk about the shame and self-consciousness that can come with hair loss, and why wanting to feel like yourself again is not vanity.

Well like all good things we experienced some technical difficulty on this recording...our apologies. We felt like what Monica had to say was so good that we decided to post it anyway so just a heads up. Does your husband have friends? And I mean REAL friends—not just your friends' husbands! 😂 Why is it that women seem to have girlfriends for everything, while so many men rely on their wives for their social lives? Is this a marriage thing, a male friendship thing, or something else entirely? Join Phyllis and me for a fascinating (and probably very funny!) conversation with writer Monica Corcoran@prettyripe), whose article My Husband Has No Friends got us thinking about friendship, marriage, and the differences between men and women. We have LOTS of questions, and we want to hear what you think! So tell us…does your husband have friends? 👇 Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
GLP-1s are everywhere—but are we talking enough about what happens to our nutrition, muscle, and strength while we’re taking them? We had such a great conversation with nutritionist and exercise physiologist Heidi Skolnik, author of the new book Your GLP-1 Game Plan: What Your Doctor Didn’t Tell You About How to Eat, Move, and Thrive on Weight Loss Medications. We talked about what we should actually be eating, why protein and muscle matter so much as we age, and how to use GLP-1s without forgetting about the health of the body underneath the weight loss. Whether you’re taking a GLP-1, considering one, or simply want to know how to stay strong and healthy as you get older, there is so much good information here. And, as always, we asked the questions we wanted answered too. Watch the conversation and let us know what surprised you—or what you still want to know. Hosted on Acast. In this episode, we sit down with Stephanie Brink, better known on Instagram as The Marvelous Mrs. Mahjong, to talk about how a game that has been around for generations became the foundation for a thriving business and community. Stephanie shares how she turned her love of Mahjong into a career and what she has learned along the way about taking risks, reinventing yourself, and creating something of your own. We also explore the surprising ways Mahjong can be a metaphor for life—from knowing when to hold on and when to let go, to adapting when the hand you’re dealt isn’t the one you expected. We sat down with Christine Morrison, author of Clothes Minded, for a conversation about fashion, identity, aging and reinvention—and the stories our clothes tell about who we are and who we’ve been. We talk about how our relationship with style changes as we get older, the memories we attach to what we wear, and what happens when we finally start dressing for ourselves. And of course, we had to ask: So when do I take my clothes off? Maybe it’s when the clothes stop being about what we’re wearing—and start revealing who we really are.
We did something a little different this week—we went Live on Instagram with one big question on our minds: How do we live a full life with as few regrets as possible? That took us in all sorts of directions. We talked about staying curious and continuing to try new things, what we think we're actually good at, what we're proud of accomplishing, and why it can sometimes be surprisingly hard for women to say those things out loud. No guest, no script, no perfect answers. Just the two of us trying to figure out how to make the most of this stage of life—and reminding ourselves that there's still plenty we want to learn, try, experience and maybe even get wrong. Because perhaps having fewer regrets isn't about getting everything right. Maybe it's about staying curious enough to keep saying yes. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
