Journeying With The Saints

St. Augustine's "Confessions:" Book Thirteen, Chapter Twenty-Five

Journeying With The Saints

Summary

Catholic pilgrims are encouraged to reflect on the teachings of St. Augustine as they delve into his work, "Confessions." In a recent reading from Book 13, Chapter 25, the discussion centers on the importance of divine inspiration in understanding scripture. St. Augustine emphasizes that true knowledge comes from God, contrasting it with human fallibility. He highlights the allegorical significance of the earth's fruits, which symbolize the works of mercy that assist individuals in their spiritual journeys.

The conversation also touches on the support that believers can find within their faith communities. The speaker shares personal experiences of never feeling abandoned in their spiritual life, attributing this to the presence of fellow believers and the power of prayer. They remind listeners that, despite challenges, there are always resources available through the saints, angels, and the broader Christian community. The message encourages individuals to reach out for support during their spiritual pilgrimage, reinforcing the idea that no one is truly alone in their faith journey.

Hello, Catholic Pilgrims. What St. Augustine talks about today is something that I take to heart. I once was a Christian who lived according to my own will. I did not have a remaking of my mind. That changed and while I don't live the Christian life perfectly, I do understand that I must strive to live differently than what the world models for me. We will be reading from Book Thirteen, Chapter Twenty-Two on page 331.
