From Sobriety To Recovery: An Addiction Recovery PodcastShow Notes
Ep #297: We're diving deep into what it takes to change your life and stay sober. First and foremost, you have to want to change. No one can make you do it but yourself. Most of the hard work happens when nobody's around to cheer you on. It's in those quiet moments that real progress is made. Remember, you're moving forward even when it feels like you're going backward. Just because others seem to be zooming ahead doesn't mean you're not progressing. Imagine sitting in a car at a standstill while the car next to you moves forward—it feels like you're going backward, but you're not. Just being in the game is a reward in itself—and once you think you've won, the game has really just begun. Like Olympians who achieve what they thought was the pinnacle, there's always a new bar to raise. Accept yourself, but change your behavior. You are worthy of the air you breathe, just like everyone else. Remember, your space begins at the end of your nose and ends as far as you can reach. No one else is responsible for your change. Your trauma is not your fault, but your healing is. Take responsibility for your actions, and don't be a drain on those around you—understand the difference between taking advantage and earning support. Persistency and consistency separate those who achieve their dreams from those who regret not attaining them. I didn't set out to get to 297 when this all started. I didn't see much, if any, of my life back then being what it is today - but along the way, I set challenges for myself and then left it all on the proverbial field or in the metaphorical water, and I do not intend to let up any time soon! Here is to moving ALL THE WAY UP, even when the storm clouds rumble while the sun shines. Just hit play, and let's dive in with open minds and hearts—you are in the right place, at the right time—right now. ******************************************** PLEASE SUBSCRIBE, FOLLOW, RATE, AND REVIEW my show on your preferred streaming app. Every little bit helps this show reach those who need it most. ******************************************** Please support the show (I'm a one-man band over here) Free ebooks and links for coaching and the like: https://stan.store/jessemogle Buy me a coffee to keep me going: http://buymeacoffee.com/jessemogle Support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/jessemogle ******************************************** Website: https://www.jessemogle.com Please email me: [email protected] ******************************************** Complimentary 30-minute call with me: callcoachjesse.com Tik Tok: http://www.tiktok.com/@jessemogle Instagram: https://instagram.com/fromsobrietytorecovery LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jessemogle/ From Sobriety to Recovery Podcast: https://www.jessemogle.comfromsobrietytorecovery/ College Success Habits Podcast: https://www.jessemogle.com/collegesuccesshabitspodcast/ ******************************************** Join the From Sobriety to Recovery Tribe: https://www.jessemogle.com/thehub/ ******************************************** It is time. Some addictions come from what you ingest. Others come from what you do. This episode breaks down substance addictions versus process or behavioral addictions through a lens most people miss: the ritual. You'll hear how both types run the same cycle - cue → craving → response → reward - but deliver the "hit" through different routes: consumption and chemistry versus action and stimulation. You'll also learn the Six P's that make the pattern obvious in real life: Planning - who, what, when, where, and/or how you're going to do it Procure - how you get access Prepare - how you set the stage Permission - the story you tell yourself Perform - the act itself Protect - how you hide it, minimize it, and keep it aliveW'llll cover why anticipation can be its own dose, how tolerance and withdrawal can show up differently across substances and behaviors, where food fits into the conversation, and the red flags that tell yoit's’s no longe" “just a hab"t” it's’s something shaping your schedule, mood, priorities, and identity. In this episode, I'll share personal struggles with habit-building and consistency, why excitement isn't enough, and what you can replace it with. You'll learn my Winning Formula for long-term transformation, built on clarity, emotional regulation, internal motivation, and daily systems that actually work. From blocking out time to rewriting limiting beliefs, this episode offers raw reflections and practical tools for those of us navigating sobriety, growth, personal change, and long-term recovery. Whether you're early in recovery or years in, this conversation will help you trade hype for habits and take ownership of the behaviors that build your future. Because the real work starts when the spark fades - and that's where your (em)power(ment) activates!
Ep #321: Nine years ago, I made a decision that changed my life in so many ways I could not have prognosticated this life I live if you had given me a million guesses. The mantra, and there are many, that seems to be ringing the loudest today is, "I can do hard things." You might have self-doubt. You might feel worthless. You might feel the opposite. One thing I know to be true, even without knowing you, is that you have value. You have worth. You are an amazing person who has experienced many tragedies and traumatic moments. I don't have all the answers. I do know I am searching for them. I know that I awake each day seeking something far greater than I, and from this energy, I bring this show to you. Here is to another day, week, month, year, and all that is beyond this day and more than all of that...here is to this moment right now. That is what we have. Let's make the most of it. Repeat after me: I can do hard things. I do hard things. I complete hard things. Life is made harder when we are hard on each other. Today I choose inclusivity. Today I choose sobriety.I do hard things. I do them today.I will do them tomorrow. Inclusivity over Exclusivity The power of positive energy: Release and Flow. Every day is the best day of our lives when we wake up sober. Shout out to Sunshine and Robert Glow on! Ep 320: 2025 was one heckuva year. In this episode, I will cover how the ideas you have about what you want your life to become can be best achieved by laying out a plan, strategizing your actions, and figuring out the logistics of taking those actions. We will touch on SMART goals, how others' actions are not an attack on you but are done for a positive gain for themselves, how to notice burnout in yourself, what to do when you feel it, and we will close with a cheerleader-esque megaphone encouraging you to push past the difficulties and leave nothing for the swim back. Pour yourself into everything you do because the biggest regrets we have in life are the times we didn't go all in and take that chance to go big and become more than we ever imagined!
Ep #319: Being able to start new things, stop old unwanted behaviors, and change things about yourself is something we are all looping on regularly. In this rather long episode, I am going to break down in depth why you have blocks around stopping, starting, and changing things in your life, and how you can break through those blocks physiologically and psychologically. Long-term addiction recovery is everyone's goal. Along the way, there will be identity statements holding you back. Behaviors that are no longer beneficial. Outcomes that we wish we could change. Choosing a life of sobriety is the start of a new beginning. The ongoing lifelong journey of addiction recovery requires introspection into even the darkest corners of your life. You are strong. You are powerful. You are a survivor. It's time to charge into the THRIVOR, I know you can be! Just hit play, and let’s dive in with open minds and hearts—you are in the right place at the right time—right now! ******************************************** PLEASE SUBSCRIBE, FOLLOW, RATE, AND REVIEW my show on your preferred streaming app. Every little bit helps this show reach those who need it most.
