Economic Apocalypse: Journalist Reveals Trump's Dangerous Plan

Broadcaster / comedian Chip Franklin is joined on the Really American Podcast by investigative journalist David Kay Johnston, who provides a comprehensive analysis of Donald Trump's economic policies, corruption, and potential threat to American democracy. He warns about the potential for Trump to attempt to stay in power beyond a potential second term, potentially declaring martial law or disrupting elections. Subscribe Here: Really American Podcast Franklin and Johnston break down how Trump’s so-called economic policies aren’t really about trade at all. According to Johnston, tariffs are being used not to protect American jobs, but to line the pockets of a few well-connected allies while leaving regular Americans to pay the bill. In simple terms, these moves aren’t designed to help the country—they’re just another way to grab power and money. Johnston was blunt when talking about Trump’s lack of economic leadership. Even though Trump claims to be an expert, his actions show he doesn’t understand how the economy works. This void could put America’s financial future in serious danger. Johnston draws comparisons to historical economic crises to warn us about what might happen if these policies continue. We’ll discuss how Trump’s use of power for personal gain weakens our democracy and is leading us straight to a dictatorship. And we’ll touch on the global fallout of Trump’s reckless ideas with our old allies—leaving us isolated in an increasingly tumultuous time around the globe. Franklin and Johnston stress that good, honest journalism and an informed public are our best defenses, calling on Republicans and Democrats to work together to protect our country’s future. For anyone worried about the well-being of American democracy and our economy, this episode is a wake-up call.
