Tonight we go back to how she ended up on death row in the first place. In part one, we'll cover Christa's life before she got to the Job Corps center in Knoxville, the boyfriend and the friend who were with her there, and the girl she decided was trying to steal him. Then the night in January of 1995 when the three of them walked Colleen Slemmer out to an abandoned steam plant on the University of Tennessee campus, and what happened at the Job Corps center in the days after.

Then Tennessee tried to execute Christa Pike for the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer, and after two rounds of lethal injection she was still alive. It's the second execution the state has botched this year.
