Our World This Week

Early Morning Cranes, A Good Cry, and a Bit of a Moan

Our World This Week

Show Notes

A slightly different one this week… We wake to the eerie, beautiful call of cranes just beyond the boat — a rare sight in the UK and something that still stops us in our tracks. From misty mornings and ancient landscapes to swallows returning and a surprise bittern sighting, it’s been a proper nature-filled week. But it’s not just about wildlife. We talk about the quiet kindness of people — strangers stepping in to help when it really matters — and how those small acts spread further than you think. There’s also a heartfelt chat about a book that genuinely moved us (Tuesdays with Morrie) and why it might just change the way you look at life and relationships. And, of course, it wouldn’t be one of our podcasts without a bit of a moan… this week it’s a big one. We finish on lighter things — spring weather (briefly!), Archie living his best life, and somehow… cheese dreams. If you enjoy these chats, please do follow/subscribe wherever you’re listening — it really helps us along. And feel free to get in touch: Thanks for listening. It’s 32 degrees on the boat, and we are trying to stay "zen" while our power inverter throws a fit! In this week's episode, we share our recent visit to the RHS Flower Show, and how we are preparing for our next big adventure: judging the Aqua Vista in Bloom garden competition. From struggling with our allotment plants to rethinking our stance on air fryers, it’s been a week of learning and slow-living challenges. We also touch on our recent sports-viewing marathons and the importance of helping local wildlife during these hot days. Thanks for listening. We tackle the "empty palace" dilemma—why is Buckingham Palace sitting vacant while costing us a fortune? We also vent about the rising cost of living, the frustration of being "out of touch" with our own shopping bills, and we look back at the historical coincidences of American Independence Day.
