Deathwing is dead... But peace lasts only long enough for Garrosh Hellscream to see an opportunity. With Thrall away from Orgrimmar and Cairne buried, the new Warchief gathers the Horde’s leaders and reveals his ambition: all of Kalimdor. Baine Bloodhoof and Vol’jin recognize where that road leads, but opposing Garrosh has become increasingly dangerous. Meanwhile, Kalecgos searches for the stolen Focusing Iris, an artifact capable of magnifying arcane power beyond imagination. His investigation brings him to Theramore, where Jaina Proudmoore is already watching the relationship between Horde and Alliance collapse. In Episode 85, The Gathering Tide, we begin our three-part journey through Christie Golden’s Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War, following the decisions, warnings and failures that place Theramore directly in Garrosh’s path...

Lore segment begins at (10:04) A prince promises survival at a terrible cost. Rebels escape his city, bargain for sanctuary, and build a new life above the world. Thousands of years later, their descendants must decide how to save the home that bargain gave them. First, we return to the aftermath of Warcraft III: Arthas’s betrayal, Grom Hellscream’s sacrifice, the stand at Mount Hyjal, and the fragile peace that follows. These events leave Azeroth with the rivalries, displaced peoples, and unfinished conflicts that form the backdrop to World of Warcraft: Forever. We also discuss the High Order and Windshapers, the Skyborne’s ties to the Kirin Tor and Earthen Ring, and our first impressions of how their story fits into Warcraft’s history.
