My week in cars: the Autocar podcast

Show Notes

McMurtry Automotive, maker of the awesomely quick and revolutionary single-seat "fan" car that holds the Goodwood Hillclimb record, is celebrating its 10th birthday by revealing its first batch of £1m-plus production cars, now well advanced. They're due to go to owners next year.

Here, speaking exclusively to Steve Cropley, McMurtry founder and MD Tom Yates explains why and how the company was founded. He describes the Speirling's four-stage journey from crazy idea to production readiness and also reveals a little about the company's future plans - not just for a Speirling successor, but for a car beyond that.

Yates says fan-induced downforce is still regarded by most people as revolutionary for cars, but McMurtry is already investigating rule-breaking technologies that are even more advanced. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
