The forty days of Lent in the church calendar echo Jesus' temptations in the wilderness as described in Matthew 4. In this sermon Rebecca investigates the meaning of Lent and why it matters. As temptation distorts good things sought apart from trust in the Father, we are encouraged into, "..allowing our habits and routines to be disrupted and reshaped, so that we are formed as disciples, rather than units of production or consumption."
Consider: What ministry could God be preparing you for? What spiritual muscle could you start exercising? What Lenten practices might support your preparation?

To kick off the series Matthew looks at the life of William Temple, Archbishop of Canterbury (1942–1944) and asks how might we combine personal commitment to Christ with practical efforts to create a more just society? Excerpts from Temple's book 'Christianity and the Social Order' can be heard in the sermon.
In this sermon, Chris answers questions from parishioners sparked by our recent six part series on Galatians.
In the last sermon in this series, Chris points us to three questions answered in Galatians: - How does the law enslave? - What does freedom mean in practice? - What is the role of the Holy Spirit in the new community?
