What no one says out loud about being a step parent step-parent - with Kris Byrnes
Bump with Steph & LauraShow Notes
Kris Byrnes became a step-parent when she was 24, before she’d had children of her own. Now Kris & her husband are raising 4 children together - two from her husband’s previous relationship and two of their own. Kris has taken everything she has learned from step-parents and now offers coaching to others who are navigating blended families. In all the years of making KICBump, we’ve never dedicated an episode to step-parents, so we were thrilled to cross paths with Kris! In this episode Steph sits down with Kris to learn more about her experience becoming a step-parent at 24, her & her husband’s decision to have children of their own, and the challenges that Kris encounters in her coaching work - including deciding whether or not step-parenting is for you, parental alienation, what step-parenting does to your romantic relationship, and more. More from Bump with Steph & Laura
Laura’s algorithm has been serving her a lot of parenting advice lately, and some of it is making her question decisions she already feels good about. Today, we’re unpacking Dr Erica Komisar’s views on daycare, the pressure to put motherhood ahead of everything else, and why so much parenting content leaves mums feeling guilty.
What's the pettiest thing you've ever done as a parent? We came across a hilarious TikTok from @kristenbright sharing some very petty parenting moments, and naturally, we had to unpack our own. From tiny acts of revenge to the ridiculous things we do when we're running on empty... this is a reminder that we all do it!
It feels like everyone around us is overwhelmed right now, so today we’re getting into why everything suddenly feels like a lot. We’re coming out of winter, the weather is warming up, life is getting busier, and there’s suddenly this pressure to get back into gear.
Today, we're so lucky to be sitting down with Shameless Media co-founder, Michelle Andrews.
