In Dungeons and Dragons, a monster is defined as any creature that can be interacted with and potentially fought and killed. Even something as harmless as a frog or as benevolent as a unicorn is a monster by this definition. An obstacle to overcome. An interactable entity to fill in an imaginary world. And sometimes, a monster is a metaphor.
But one monster, more than any other, represents the awe and terror humanity can feel before the forces of nature. It represents the inevitability of every person, society, and culture's ultimate futility against the eternity of time and and the insignificance of our power, ambition, or potential. The inevitable end and our inability to stop that end from coming. I am of course speaking of the Tarrasque. The greatest of all monsters.

Ghouls are among the most iconic corporeal undead. Haunting graveyards, battlefields, and crypts, they hunger for the flesh of living or recently dead creatures. Once human, ghouls are vicious killers driven mad by an unending gnawing hunger. They crave nothing more than to tear into and consume the warm flesh. It consumes their every thought and overrides even their sense of self-preservation. Still, even with their deranged and destroyed minds, ghouls have a terrible cunning which enables them to hunt their prey most effectively.
Of all the chaotic evil undead creatures that stalk the worlds of Dungeons and Dragons, perhaps none is more dreadful than the vampire. Forever shunning the light of the sun, Vampires upon creation are awakened to an endless night. They lust for the life they lost and sate that hunger by drinking the blood of the living. Moving silently through the night, these pallid undead stalk their prey without mercy or compassion.
None can win the war with death, but losing the war does not mean the combatants have seen their last battle. Warriors who wish to fight beyond the limitations of flesh and blood can seek a forbidden way to steal their souls from fate.
Deep beneath the surface world lies a realm of darkness, danger, and betrayal. Although many races claim it as their home, the sinister drow claim to be its rulers. With arrogance that few can manage, the drow lord over their slaves, scheming and plotting behind the backs of their kin. Despite their sense of superiority, the drow fear one thing: their dark goddess Lolth, Queen of Spiders.
The horrors the Abyss disgorges are without number, and no limit restricts the disquieting forms that its spawn, demons, can take. Easily the most disgusting master to claim dominion over the tainted host is the creature known as Juiblex, He Who Slithers, the Unnameable One, Glistener, Indescribable Darkness, and Slick of Foulest Humors.
