Show Notes

The Premier League returns on August 21st, heightened by a different level of intrigue. For the first time in nearly a decade, Manchester will not have Pep Guardiola, and they will not begin the season as favourites, champions or even as the team everyone else is chasing. Arsenal enter the campaign as the defending champions, for the first time in 22 years, and as 6/4 favourites to retain the crown.

The 2026 World Cup was the first to feature 48 teams across three countries, and the Premier League is already feeling the consequences. A total of 182 players from the EPL represented their nations in North America - and for those who went deep into the tournament, the turnaround to the new season is brutal. With the World Cup final having taken place just 33 days before the opening weekend, the 2026/27 campaign begins in a state of genuine, wide-open uncertainty for English football. In this episode - your first of two Futures betting shows - Billi cross-examines the main contenders in the "Outright Winner" market.

Billi breaks down the Premier League’s Matchday 8 slate. Arsenal will be looking to maintain their momentum against Everton, while Chelsea host Tottenham in what's likely to be another heated London derby on Saturday. Tottenham picked up their first Premier League win of the season at home to Coventry last time out, but they are set for a tougher test when they visit fellow Londoners. Spurs’ only previous victory this season came in the League Cup against Charlton and they have been beaten by Aston Villa, Liverpool, Newcastle and Brentford already. They have lost their last six meetings with Chelsea and have not won at Stamford Bridge since 2018. Thanks to European football, we get four games on Sunday. The game of the day sees Liverpool welcome an impressive Brighton side whose European commitments may add another dimension to their Anfield challenge.
