We've Gone from Death to Life: And Why

Harris Creek Baptist Church

Show Notes

We weren't just struggling in our sin, we were spiritually dead until God, in His great love and mercy, made us alive through grace by faith in Jesus Christ. Now that we've been given new life, we're called to walk in the good works God has already prepared for us, living as grateful trophies of His grace rather than trying to earn His favor.

You were dead God made you alive Live the life He prepared

Life Group Discussion: JP said, "Dead people don't need advice, they need resurrection." Where do you find yourself trying to "try harder" instead of depending on Jesus? The words "But God" completely change the story. Can you share a "But God" moment where His grace redirected your life? Paul says we're saved for good works, not by good works. What is the difference, and why does it matter? What is one practical step you can take this week to "walk in the works God prepared" for you?

Grace is so much more than forgiveness; through Jesus, God saves us, shapes us, and sets us apart as His own. We don’t pursue holiness to earn God’s grace, but because we’ve received it, allowing His grace to transform our desires, change how we live, and make us people who reflect His kindness to the world.

Your life is a billboard for Jesus, and how you live can either draw people toward Him or push them away. In Titus 2:1–10, Paul calls every believer to live with integrity, practice self-control, serve others, and invest in the next generation so that the way we live makes the gospel attractive to the world around us.

Culture pulls us toward compromise, but followers of Jesus are called to hold the line by standing on God’s Word, not personal preference. We protect the church, correct with care, and share Christ with those who need Him.

What does your life say about what you truly believe? In Titus 1, Paul shows us that godly leadership starts with leading well at home, living with character, and building your life on the truth of the Gospel. Lead well at home Lead with character Lead from truth

Following Jesus isn’t about starting strong or checking spiritual boxes, but about staying faithful and running through the finish line. We finish well by practicing our faith, intentionally pursuing intimacy with Jesus, and using our influence to help others follow Him.
