Today on the podcast, we welcome back Matt Pryor. Matt is on to talk about his recently announced memoir he wrote called Red Letter Days. It’s up for pre-order right now, or if you’re in the future, head over to Washed Up Books to get one! Matt and I discuss how he started writing, how he feels about it now, how his adversity and stories helped him deal with many things, and how he’s better for it. Quick note: We mentioned a guy named Frank early on. We were talking about Frank Turner, the musician who helped Matt start the process of writing. This has been a fantastic partnership where Matt trusted me as I dove deeper into book publishing, and he did the same by bearing his soul in this book. I hope you enjoy the book, or if you’re coming back after reading and listening to this, I hope it adds to the pages you’ve read. Either way, thanks for supporting Washed Up Emo. More from Washed Up Emo
If you know, you know. Back in the late 2000s UK scene, pennines (pronounced pen-nines) were one of those special, lightning-in-a-bottle bands. Hailing from Norwich, the four-piece featuring Henry Tremain (who went on to TTNG), Tristan Holden, Mike Wightman, and Jem Eaves crafted a clean, syncopated, pedal-free strain of math-rock and emo that relied on pure room energy, arpeggiated guitars, and zero fluff. They burned fast, dropped a handful of hand-burned demo CDRs at shows, and left behind a tight, sub-20-minute discography that achieved mythical cult status among real heads.
Chris and I discuss the new album "Remain Obscure" out on Ernest Jennings Record Company this Friday the 18th!
Chris Simpson joins to talk about his upcoming solo show with Davey von Bohlen (The Promise Ring, Maritime) this Friday in Milwaukee at Burnhearts starting at 6pm!
Travis and I last talked for episode 30 back in 2014! In between texts and tours, this was a great time to reconnect. Travis shares stories about the "Tales For The Rages" album. It features songs written from 2019-2025, inspired by a reunion in 2016. Out now via Iodine Recordings!
Today on the podcast we welcome back two guests that have joined forces for a reissue out on Solid Brass Records. It’s the album Go Kid Go by Franklin.
