I put my wedding photography prices up because I wanted to shoot fewer weddings, have a better work life balance and build a business that actually fits my life. But this wasn’t a small price increase. It was a jump. One that potentially took me out of the market, referral network and even geographical area I’d spent years building my business in. At the same time, I rebranded. So this year has involved a lot of questioning whether I’ve made the right decision. I’ve had branding experts look at the business. I’ve had audits. I’ve changed messaging. I’ve looked for the thing that isn’t working, only to be told more than once that everything looks good. And I’m slowly realising that perhaps some of the work isn’t another website tweak or better piece of copy. It’s me. In this episode, I’m talking about the knockbacks that come with charging more, the difference between selling value for money and selling competence, what happens when your buyer changes, and the uncomfortable reality of trying to convince potential clients “why me?” when you’re still trying to fully believe the answer yourself. I haven’t cracked it. I don’t know yet whether I’ve made the right decision. I’m still right in the middle of it. Which is probably exactly why I wanted to talk about it.
What does it really take to build a wedding photography career that lasts? In this episode, I’m joined by Ed Godden, a wedding photographer with over 30 years of experience, for an honest conversation about longevity, burnout, creativity and the reality of staying in this industry long term. We talk about the moments that test you, why passion alone isn’t enough, the business decisions that matter, and how to evolve without losing yourself. A conversation for wedding photographers who aren’t just trying to grow, but want to build something that lasts.
You’re in peak season. Photographing every weekend, editing midweek, and running your business on momentum alone. Which is exactly where things start to quietly leak money, bookings, and opportunities. This episode is your mid-season business audit. Not a strategy overhaul, not a branding deep dive, but a practical two-hour check-in that tells you what’s actually working right now and what’s slipping through the cracks while you’re busy. I'm looking at lead sources, lost enquiries, follow-ups, reviews, product revenue, content momentum, and ad spend. The stuff that doesn’t feel urgent in the moment, but directly impacts your income by the end of the season. You don’t need more ideas. You need clarity on what’s already in motion. To make this even easier, I’ve put together a free Mid-Season Business Audit Checklist so you can work through everything alongside the episode in real time. Download it from my website here: CHECKLIST Total time: two hours. Impact: plugging the leaks before they cost you the rest of your season.
Have you ever looked at your business and felt like you should be further ahead, but something invisible has been holding you back? This episode breaks down the idea of “borrowed ceilings”, the limits you unknowingly adopt from the rooms you spend time in. Whether it’s wedding industry negativity, other people’s fear around money, or quiet bitterness disguised as realism, it all adds up. And before you realise it, you’re playing smaller than you ever intended. This is an honest conversation about how other people’s mindsets shape your decisions, impact your visibility, and cap your growth without you even noticing. If you’ve ever second-guessed your pricing, held back online, or felt conflicted about wanting more, this episode will hit. Expect a direct, uncomfortable but necessary reset on what’s actually yours, and what never was. business growth, mindset, limiting beliefs, visibility, pricing, creative business, entrepreneurship, wedding industry, self doubt, confidence
Most wedding suppliers are either overcomplicating SEO or avoiding it completely, and both are costing them bookings. In this episode, I sit down with an SEO expert: Katherine to strip it back to what actually matters in 2026. No jargon, no recycled advice, just the real shifts happening in how couples search, what Google is prioritising now, and how AI is working alongside this. We get into what wedding suppliers are getting wrong, whether blogging is still worth your time, how to structure your website so it actually converts, and what you should focus on if you’ve only got a few hours a week to work on it. If you’ve been relying on Instagram and hoping your website will somehow “do its thing”, this will challenge that.
