Remembering Who I Am: How Sobriety Led Me Home

Come Alive with Charlotte Stevenson

Show Notes

This week's episode is the most personal conversation I've shared on Come Alive. I'm opening up about my journey through sobriety, anxiety, and the years I spent feeling disconnected from myself. I share how choosing sobriety became the beginning of a much deeper path—one that led me into meditation, nervous system healing, self-trust, and ultimately finding my voice. I also talk about why I'm now exploring sound healing and feminine embodiment, and how following what genuinely lights me up continues to shape the life I'm creating. Finally, we explore the power of imagination and why your vision often arrives long before the evidence. Sometimes the life you're dreaming of simply begins with believing it's possible. I hope this episode reminds you that healing isn't about becoming someone new. It's about remembering who you are.

What if the answers you're searching for are already within you? In this episode of Come Alive, Charlotte Stevenson sits down with Sonia Lynn, also known as The Quiet Mage, to explore the wisdom of labyrinths, women's circles, ritual and the different seasons of a woman's life. After years working in church ministry, Sonia felt that something deeper was missing. It was her first experience walking a labyrinth that opened the door to a spiritual journey spanning more than two decades. Today, Sonia is a celebrant, advanced labyrinth facilitator and retreat host who creates spaces for women to slow down, reconnect with themselves and find meaning through community, nature and ritual. Together, we explore: • The difference between a labyrinth and a maze, and why walking a labyrinth can be such a powerful experience • How a single walk changed the direction of Sonia's life • The importance of women's circles, deep listening and genuine connection • The seasons of a woman's life — maiden, mother, mage and crone • Reframing menopause as a new beginning rather than an ending • Everyday rituals, moon ceremonies and the Celtic Wheel of the Year • The story of Joan White, a woman remembered as a witch, and Sonia's moving pilgrimage to her grave Sonia also shares the story behind her upcoming book about the seasons of a woman's life, her work at Moonwillow Manor, and her dream of one day marrying a couple in the middle of a labyrinth. This is a conversation about slowing down, listening inward and creating space to hear what you already know. Because sometimes, finding your way forward begins with coming home to yourself. What if, beneath everything you've learned, experienced and been conditioned to believe, there is a deeper truth about who you are? In this episode, I’m sharing a perspective that has been becoming increasingly important to me - the idea that we come into this life from love, from Source, from a deeper field of consciousness, and that perhaps part of being human is remembering that connection. I talk about what it means to see ourselves not as separate, but as part of something much greater — connected to one another, to nature, to the planet and to the world around us. I also explore one of the biggest things I believe keeps us from living fully: fear. So many of the decisions we make can be shaped by fear. What will people think? What if I fail? What if I get it wrong? What if I follow what I really want and it doesn't work out? But what if fear isn't who you are? What if so much of what we call fear is actually conditioning, stories and beliefs we've absorbed throughout our lives? And what becomes possible when we begin to question those stories and choose to move from love instead? I also share more about my upcoming New Moon Circle — a beautiful afternoon for women to pause, reconnect, reflect, set intentions and create space for what wants to unfold. A conversation about love, fear, consciousness, connection, purpose, remembering who you are and what might become possible when you stop allowing fear to make your choices for you.

There will be people and situations in life that challenge you, test your boundaries and sometimes make you question yourself. But what if those moments aren't here to break you? In this episode, I’m talking about protecting your inner fire, staying rooted in yourself and learning to hold your ground when someone or something tries to pull you away from your path. I share some of the simple practices I use after conflict or difficult situations — from dancing it out and shaking it off, to getting into nature and grounding myself — and why coming back to the body can help us reconnect with our centre, our purpose and our why. I also share a shift that has happened for me over the years: instead of fearing challenges, I’ve started to get excited by them. When I feel that tightness in my chest or that uneasy feeling in my body, I now see it as an invitation to look deeper. To face something. To integrate something. To grow. Because sometimes the very thing challenging us is also the thing creating the space for our next evolution. I also explore how this connects with liberation, identity and The ALIGN Method™ — and what happens when we stop allowing old versions of ourselves, other people or fear to dictate who we become. You won't break my soul. You might challenge me. You might shake me. You might force me to grow. But I get to choose who I become on the other side.

What if nothing you've experienced has been wasted? In this episode, I’m talking about trusting the unfolding of life, the idea that what we experience externally can reflect what is happening within us, and what it means to surrender the need to know exactly how everything will unfold. I also share more honestly about my own journey of showing up online, pivoting my business, trying things that didn't work, and eventually realising that every “failure” was actually teaching me something and leading me closer to the work I truly want to create. And now, I feel clearer than ever about the foundation of my business: Voice • Sound • Sensuality • Embodiment. I share what these four pillars mean to me, why they sit at the heart of my work, and the different ways you can work with me. A conversation about trust, surrender, business, becoming clearer, and remembering that sometimes the path that doesn't work is exactly what leads you to the one that does.

What happens when you stop letting your ego make all the decisions? In this free-flowing episode of Come Alive, I explore what it means to trust your intuition, listen to your higher self and allow the divine to move through you. We talk about the tension between our human side — the fear, logic, doubt and ego — and that deeper knowing that keeps calling us towards something more. I share how I've learned to lead my life from intuition and flow, why I believe the things that light us up are often clues to where we're meant to go, and why sometimes the most important thing we can do is follow the spark before it makes logical sense. I also dive into my growing connection with Goddess Isis and Mary Magdalene, sensuality as a way of living, turning everyday moments into ritual, and what it means to become more present in your body. And I share more about my first live ALIVE experience happening on 19 September — bringing meditation, sound, voice, dance, embodiment and reflection together in a two-hour immersive experience for women. A reminder for anyone sitting on an idea, dream or calling: Don't let your ego get in the way of what wants to move through you. Maybe the thing you're being called towards doesn't need to make sense yet. Maybe you just need to follow the spark.
