Box 13 presents “Blackmail Is Murder,” episode 3, originally broadcast September 5, 1948. Alan Ladd stars as mystery novelist turned investigator Dan Holiday, whose unusual cases arrive through a newspaper-box address.
An urgent message sends Holiday to the Bradford Hotel, where an eccentric guest fears the consequences of reporting a death in her room. As Lieutenant Kling enters the picture, a room-assignment mix-up and possible underworld connections deepen the mystery. Produced by Richard Sanville, the episode is part of the 52-installment detective series heard on Mutual and in Mayfair transcription syndication.
