Show Notes

What if the reason you’re staying quiet, overthinking your responses, or avoiding hard conversations… isn’t because you’re fragile—but because you’ve decided you can’t handle what might happen? In this episode of The Worthy Wife Podcast, I’m sharing a personal story from my solo motorcycle trip to Strathmore, Alberta—and how God used that experience to confront a belief I didn’t even realize I was still carrying: That I was more fragile than I actually am. Riding through heavy rain, navigating loose gravel on construction roads, and even driving at night with the risk of animals on the road forced me to face fear in a very real way. And what I discovered is something I believe every Christian woman needs to hear: You are not fragile. You are more capable than you think—especially when you trust God with what feels difficult. This episode will challenge the way you see yourself in your marriage, your communication, and your calling. Because the truth is, many of us are not stuck because life is too hard—we’re stuck because we’ve quietly decided we can’t handle what might happen. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why believing you are “fragile” is keeping you stuck in your marriage How fear shows up as silence, people-pleasing, and avoiding boundaries What my motorcycle trip taught me about courage, trust, and capability The difference between something being difficult vs. impossible How to start setting boundaries without guilt in your marriage and family Practical steps to speak up with confidence instead of walking on eggshells How trusting God builds real self-confidence—not avoidance This Episode Is For You If: You feel like you’re walking on eggshells in your marriage You struggle to speak up or say no without guilt You want to build self-confidence as a Christian woman You avoid conflict because it feels too overwhelming You desire to trust God more deeply in hard situations You’re ready to stop playing small and start living with courage Practical Integration: This week, I want you to identify one area where you’ve been holding back: A conversation you’ve been avoiding A boundary you know you need to set An opinion you’ve been afraid to share Ask yourself: “What am I afraid will happen?” Then ask: “If that happened… could I handle it with God?” Take one step forward—not perfectly, but faithfully. Key Takeaway: You are not as fragile as you believe. And the life you want—the confidence, the peace, the strength in your marriage—is on the other side of doing things that feel uncomfortable, not avoiding them. Helper or Enabler? Finding Your Voice as a Christian Wife Carrie introduces a new coaching program for Christian wives who feel they are walking on eggshells, inviting the first 10 women to email for an application to join weekly personal coaching at a founding price of 997 Canadian dollars to learn to speak up with courage and grace without apologizing, shutting down, or trying to control outcomes. In the episode, she asks whether wives are truly their husbands’ helpers or have become enablers who make excuses, buffer consequences, and say yes to avoid conflict, creating codependent and unhealthy dynamics. She encourages wives to show up as purposeful partners, state what they agree or disagree with, set boundaries about what they will and won’t do, and stop seeking approval, sharing how her marriage has helped her grow in confidence and reliance on God. 00:00 New Coaching Program 00:40 Founding Member Offer 02:32 Welcome and Big Question 02:42 Helper or Enabler 06:26 Stop Being the Yes Man 07:51 Your Role in Marriage 08:59 Personal Growth Story 10:04 Stand Alone in Faith 10:54 Invitation and Goodbye

Carrie Allemeersch addresses Christian wives who have been waiting for their husbands to become spiritual leaders and argues that obedience to God should not be put on hold until a husband changes. She distinguishes self-leadership from taking over a husband’s role and uses the biblical example of Deborah to show that a woman’s calling is not dependent on her husband’s actions. She encourages women to pray, serve, prioritize church, cultivate gifts, build family traditions, and create a peaceful home without seeking a “permission slip,” while honoring a husband and respecting his choices. She warns that what is called submission may be fear, urges making a list of personal versus husband responsibilities, and emphasizes faithfulness over controlling others. When an important relationship becomes strained, it is easy to question not only what happened but what your pain says about you. In this episode of The Worthy Wife, Carrie offers a careful way to examine that question without turning grief into another reason to condemn yourself. Loving your family deeply, wanting a relationship restored and grieving limited contact do not automatically prove idolatry. The more revealing question is whether you have given another person the authority to establish your identity, worth or peace. In this episode:

Have you made your husband—or even your marriage—the center of your life? For years, I didn't realize how much of my life was being organized around my husband's happiness, opinions, reactions and approval. Eventually, I had to separate myself from my husband. I don't mean that I left my marriage. I mean that I had to remember something important: My husband and I are two different people. I am not my husband. I am not my marriage. And being a Christian wife does not mean making my husband the reference point for every decision I make. In this episode of The Worthy Wife Podcast, I'm sharing part of my own marriage story and what happened when I stopped trying to manage my husband, protect the marriage at all costs, and keep everyone happy—and put God back at the center of my life. We talk about: • How husband-pleasing can quietly replace God-pleasing• Why making your marriage your highest priority can create fear and pressure• The difference between honoring your marriage and making an idol of it• Why your husband's mood, approval and choices are not yours to manage• What changed when I stopped making my husband my reference point• Why putting yourself at the center isn't the answer either• How your decisions change when you ask, “Does this bring glory to God?”• Why becoming more like Christ—not more like your husband—is the goal• What it can look like to trust God with the outcome of your marriage You can be a loving, faithful Christian wife even when your husband is unhappy with you. You can stop arranging your life around avoiding his anger, disappointment or disapproval. And you can stop carrying responsibility for a marriage outcome that ultimately belongs to God. You and your husband are two different people. Your job is not to become more like him. Your job is to become more like Christ. If you're having a hard time separating who you are from your husband or your marriage, this is the work I do with Christian wives. We untangle what belongs to you, what belongs to your husband, and what needs to be placed back into God's hands—so you can make decisions from faith rather than fear. Does turning the other cheek mean a Christian wife should tolerate hurtful behavior, stay quiet, or avoid setting boundaries in her marriage? A listener recently asked me this after hearing an episode about Christian boundaries. It’s an important question because many Christian women have learned to connect being loving, forgiving, and Christlike with keeping the peace—even when that means ignoring what is actually happening. But what if turning the other cheek and setting a boundary aren't opposites at all? In this episode of The Worthy Wife Podcast, we look at what Jesus modeled when He faced criticism, demands, conflict, and opposition. Sometimes He answered. Sometimes He confronted. Sometimes He remained silent. And sometimes He simply walked away. We’ll talk about Proverbs 15:1 and 1 Peter 3:9 and consider what it means to respond without retaliation while still having clear boundaries. You'll learn why a boundary isn't about controlling your husband's behavior. It's about deciding how you will respond to his behavior. We’ll also explore the difference between being a peacemaker and a peacekeeper, why gentleness doesn't make you responsible for someone else's anger, and why you don't have to defend yourself against every accusation. And I want you to consider one uncomfortable question: When you ask, “But aren't I supposed to turn the other cheek?” are you genuinely asking how Jesus wants you to respond—or are you looking for biblical permission to keep doing what you have done all along: staying quiet, avoiding his displeasure, and calling it love? Turning the other cheek doesn't mean: You may do whatever you want to me. It can mean: What you do doesn't get to decide who I become next. If you're a Christian wife who is walking on eggshells, struggling with guilt around boundaries, afraid of your husband's disapproval, or unsure where loving him ends and taking responsibility for his emotions begins, this episode is for you. If you're ready to stop walking on eggshells and want help sorting out what belongs to you, what doesn't, and how you want to show up in your marriage, I work privately with Christian women through high-touch coaching.
