Jan Kotas left Europe, built a life in Paraguay, and now helps families leave countries before those countries get the chance to do the same thing to them. His own grandparents didn’t have that option. Under the Iron Curtain, leaving meant leaving someone behind.

Jan Kotas is a Czech entrepreneur and software engineer who left Europe, settled in Paraguay, and runs Hacking Lies, a company that helps clients legally diversify their lives across jurisdictions, residencies, and tax structures. He’s also deeply involved in the Bitcoin Paraguay community, and his own family history under the Iron Curtain in Czechoslovakia shapes a lot of how he thinks about state power today.
