Late on the night of June 9, 1912, Josiah B. Moore, his wife Sarah, their 6 young children, and 2 of their daughters friends, were savagely murdered in the Moore home in Villisca, Iowa. The murder sent shockwaves through the small town and nation for many years to come, and unfortunately is still unsolved. The home where this horrific act took place, still stands in Villisca today, but it’s known for much more than just the unimaginable crime; it’s also the site of an incredible amount of paranormal activity and draws in visitors interested in the macabre and supernatural from all over the world. You can go for a daytime visit, or even stay overnight if you dare. But let us tell you a little about it before you make that decision, because you may need to think twice before stepping foot into one of the most notorious haunted houses in America.

I feel like attempting to contact the spirits of the dead at least once is like a rite of passage for all who would have put themselves in the category of ‘spooky.’ And just as we’ve said so many times on this podcast, you never know what’s waiting for you in the darkness when you’re reaching out. Today, I’ve brought you several stories from our listeners who took a chance with a ouija board and made contact with something much darker than they intended!
Every Monday for the month of October, we’ll be telling the histories and haunting mysteries of some of the world’s most horrifying haunted houses.
When you reach out into the unknown, when you go looking to make contact with something in the spirit realm, you can never be sure what’s there waiting in the darkness on the other side. You never know if what reaches back out to you has the intention to cause you harm or wreak havoc onto your life. Sometimes a look into the spirit realm, a question asked via a ouija board, and seance is harmless fun or even a true encounter with a loved one, but sometimes it doesn’t end well for those who go looking! Today I’m bringing you several stories from Reddit that detail encounters just like this. These anonymous netizens went looking for answers and didn’t like the response they received.
