Former Pastor Calls JP Miller a Cult Leader and Says He's Dangerous

Every year the Assemblies of God sends licensed ministers a form asking whether they've upheld the moral code. Timmy Gibson says not one pastor he personally knew answered honestly. On Homicide Happy Hour, Gibson explained the system. If you told the truth, you lost your license and your livelihood. One friend admitted to marijuana and was removed from ministry immediately. Gibson says JP Miller's church was built on top of that structure. Miller set things up so no one could override him. Miller faces cyberstalking and false statements charges federally. He has pleaded not guilty. He is not charged in Mica Miller's death. Tony asked about Suzie Skinner, Miller's current wife, whose previous husband was paraplegic and died under circumstances both hosts called mysterious. Alex Murdaugh's lawyers asked for one thing the state didn't want to give them, and on October 16 Judge Debra McCaslin gave it to them anyway. Eric Faddis joins me to weigh the ruling. The defense gets its own testing on unknown male DNA from Maggie Murdaugh's fingernails and her phone. Prosecutors warned the tests could exhaust the samples. Murdaugh's team says the state withheld evidence and wants to know whether that DNA belongs to someone else who was at Moselle. The same hearing ended Dick Harpootlian's polygraph talking point. The judge said Murdaugh failed a test about hiding financial records. The missing guns are the next fight. The defense wants to know if a grand jury is looking at a police officer friend of Murdaugh's, and prosecutors won't say. Eric explains why that matters for April. David Glatzel was 11 years old when he described visions of Arne Johnson killing someone. Months before anyone died. Before February 16, 1981, when Johnson stabbed Alan Bono on the lawn of a Brookfield, Connecticut boarding kennel — the first homicide in the town's 193-year history. His brother Carl was in the room the day it allegedly started. Carl saw nothing. Their parents divided — their mother believed, their father slapped David during an episode and he stopped immediately. Ed and Lorraine Warren arrived and told the family to start recording. Those cassette tapes survived more than 40 years. On them, an 11-year-old's voice is deep, guttural, screaming profanities at his mother. The Church sent priests but refused the formal exorcism. Then Arne Johnson challenged the entity to take him instead. David improved. Arne started blacking out. Donna McNamara ordered the 2021 investigation that found three Stoughton officers had inappropriate relationships with Sandra Birchmore. Now McNamara is the one on leave, and Eric Faddis joins me to ask how. Her lawsuit says that on July 7, Town Manager Thomas Calter called her in, gave her a choice to resign or be fired, and barred her from headquarters. Calter says she was put on leave over a complaint and never got an ultimatum. Her suit says his office named an acting chief within 48 hours of her harassment complaint against him. At the center of the fight is a second Birchmore report from 2024. Calter has said it examined how the department handled one specific phone call. McNamara says he wanted it destroyed. Sarah Sproul had an affair with Matthew Farwell while she was friends with his wife. She testified that at parties, with his wife in the room, he'd come around a corner to kiss her. He never wore a mask or told her to delete a text. Two more women said the same, after the defense had told the jury that the mask Farwell wore into Sandra Birchmore's building was what people having affairs do. Prosecutors say the secret with Sandra was more than an affair. The father of her baby, Jason Pickard, testified under immunity that she told him it began when she was 13 or 14. Her friend Sarah Odams testified Sandra said Farwell grabbed her phone, screamed in her face, and told her he hoped she'd die or kill herself. Odams's last message to Sandra, at 9:37 on the night of February 1, 2021, was never answered.
