Bible Story For Sleep | The Old Man Who Saved King David and Refused His Reward

Sacred Slumber

Show Notes

When Absalom's rebellion drove King David out of Jerusalem, an eighty-year-old landowner from Gilead did what almost no one else would. Barzillai met the exiled king at the Jordan with beds, grain, honey, curds, and sheep — enough to sustain hundreds of people — knowing that if the rebellion held, he would lose everything. Tonight's story follows Barzillai of Rogelim through David's flight from Jerusalem, the collapse of Absalom's kingdom in the forest of Ephraim, and the moment David offered him a place at the royal table in Jerusalem. He said no. He asked only to go home and be buried near his father and mother, and sent Chimham in his place. This is a slow, cinematic retelling drawn from Second Samuel chapters seventeen and nineteen, and First Kings chapter two, told for rest. No music swells, no dramatic turns — just a quiet story about faith that asks for nothing in return.

Bible sleep story about Jesus healing the Canaanite woman’s daughter, from Matthew chapter fifteen and Mark chapter seven. This is a calm, faith-filled Christian bedtime story to help you relax, unwind, and fall asleep peacefully. Tonight we travel beyond Galilee to the ancient coastal cities of Tyre and Sidon. There, a desperate mother, an outsider with no claim on Israel’s promises, goes searching for Jesus. She meets silence and the disciples’ impatience, and then Jesus speaks a hard saying about the children’s bread. Still she refuses to give up. Her answer, “even the dogs eat the crumbs,” leads to one of the most remarkable declarations of faith in the Gospels: “O woman, great is your faith.”
