Show Notes
Mimi Gilbert is a proudly independent artist who’s spent the better part of the last ten years living, touring and creating music in Australia and Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Raised on an orange orchard in Ojai, California and now based in Los Angeles, Mimi crafts careful folk songs with a sensitivity toward the natural world; as hopefully insightful as they are quietly devastating.
At just 15-years-old they found the freedom they longed for away from a super religious household and out in the world busking on streets and at train stations along the west coast with her brother.
Since then, Mimi has released two albums of their own – 2020s Grew Inside The Water and 2025s undrowning – and has toured with Ruby Gill, Angie McMahon and recently played on Julia Jacklin’s new album The Gem.
Pam Boland sits down with Mimi Gilbert in the RTRFM studio to chat about some of their favourite music and the moments that inspired them to be the artist they are today.

Over the last two decades, Welsh musician and producer Cate Le Bon has built a catalogue of soft-worn post-punk and abstract art-pop, and a sound entirely her own.
