The defeat to Brighton was the first game this season in which White wasn’t available, and Arsenal suffered their heaviest loss in more than three years. That doesn’t mean one player was responsible — but Ben White’s influence should not be ignored. In the six games White has played this season, Arsenal have conceded just ONE goal. He has also started in some of Arsenal’s biggest results, including wins against Sunderland, Chelsea and Aston Villa, the Champions League victory away at Napoli, and the Community Shield win against Manchester City. His impact isn’t just defensive either. White gives Arsenal balance, control and an attacking relationship down the right-hand side that can be incredibly important to how Arteta wants his team to play.
