The Cymbal Podcast - 201 - Hayden Custom Cymbals

Tim's back - his second appearance on The Cymbal Podcast! It's been a few years since the previous one and lots has changed since, personally and globally. We catch up about how process evolves and folds into itself, and the challenge of keeping joy in the work. Don't forget the bonus episode of 20 Minute Topics I posted recently in which Tim & I expand on the nuances involved in making a good set of hi-hats.

While recording episode 207 with Timothy Roberts, we skimmed across a topic I wanted to dive into more fully, so Tim and I recorded this bonus episode of 20 Minute Topics, a series we recorded for my Patreon some time ago. The topic I put to Tim is: "As cymbal makers, with hi-hats there's nowhere to hide". We have 20 minutes to discuss it. Don't miss episode 207 with Tim, on Patreon Friday December 19th and publicly December 26th.

A slight departure from cymbals & drums today, I talk to 17 year-old Lauren Dunleavy and her mother Ingrid Bates. Lauren is heavily involved in the world of motorsport, currently forging a successful career as a track racer, so we talk about entering the flow state and how to develop instinct for both car and track. Her mother Ingrid is a wine producer here in the UK and works closely with Lauren, helping her with sponsorship, planning and playing annoying Taylor Swift songs. In the past I've taught both of them drums, so there is some talk of music and instruments in there! https://www.instagram.com/laurendunleavyracing https://www.dunleavyvineyards.co.uk/
