Glitter burned by restless thoughts, IT’S THE SMASHING PUMPKAST and we’re back with another edition of the series, Radio Play My Favorite Song, where I talk to YOU, the Pumpkinhead, about one of your favorite WPC & SP-related tracks. Today on the show, we have Dean Schaffer on to discuss the underrated gem from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, “Here is No Why”. We discuss the beauty of the Pumpkin headphone listen, shouting out "Rubber Man!" at a Pumpkins show, a lil' music theory, “a big sonic lush oil painting”, lyrics connecting with a "deathrock boy", Sonic Seasoning and “No, money down!” Also, we manifest "Here Is No Why" back into the live set. "All of those yesterdays, coming around", IT’S THE SMASHING PUMPKAST and we’re back with another edition of the series, Radio Play My Favorite song, where I talk to YOU, the Pumpkinhead, about one of your favorite WPC & SP-related tracks. Today on the show, I talk to Bobby Anand about the track "Drown" from the Singles soundtrack. We also talk about the power of Pumpkin b-sides/rarities, the unfortunate edit for Rotten Apples, meeting Stef Carpenter of Deftones at Panda Express and even recommendations for podcasts covering The Cure. Speaking of The Cure, you can see Bobby’s band The Reminiscence cover The Cure’s Cold here.
Today on The Smashing Pumpkast, Asherella returns to discuss her experience at the Riviera and Lollapalooza shows and Frank finally gives his recap of attending the "Farewell to Zero" show in Los Angeles back in May. We have a lil' Jack Bates love fest, discuss some Pumpkin/Brady Bunch synchronicity woo, the return of "Here is No Why" and "Dorian", the debut of "War Dreams of Itself", the wrestling promo approach to the "Farewell to Zero" service and Melissa returns to kick some major a$$!
Hey there, freaks & ghouls. Dropping this episode to announce that our disc-by-disc coverage of the Machina: Aranea Alba Editio box set is now complete on our Patreon. Since the CD and digital release still isn't available, we have held off on releasing the episodes on the main feed. After asking listeners on social media what they would prefer, we reached a happy medium and have unlocked the first 5 episodes covering the 5 main discs in the box set. The bonus disc coverage (Discs 6-8) will remain Patreon exclusives. Justin of The Deep Dive joined me on these episodes and we're very proud of the work we did. It was a LOT to cover, but we know fellow Pumpkinheads will enjoy the geeky (USA) details we dive into. So head on over to our Patreon to listen to the coverage. I had some hardware and software issues that set the release schedule back, but thanks to Patreon supporters, I was able to replace and repair and we'll be back on track for episode releases. Thanks for all your continued support. Rawk.
"I hear music from another time." IT’S THE SMASHING PUMPKAST and we’re back with another edition of the series, Radio Play My Favorite song, where I talk to YOU, the Pumpkinhead, about one of your favorite WPC & SP-related tracks. Today on the show, I talk to Scott Collins from Madison, Wisconsin. We’ll be discussing the James Iha track “Gemini” from James’ critically underrated album “Look to the Sky”.
