The Great Romero Debate, Tonali Shines & Tottenham's Youth Dilemma
Rule The Roost - A Tottenham Hotspur PodcastShow Notes
Jack is joined by Rosa from the Hometown Glory podcast to dissect a massive week of Tottenham Hotspur news, transfers, and pre-season action.
We kick things off with the confirmed departure of Cristian Romero to Atletico Madrid. Jack has been highly critical of the Argentine recently, but Rosa steps up to fiercely defend his legacy—expect a heated debate on how his time in North London will be remembered.
Next, we review the weekend's pre-season double-header against Hoffenheim. We marvel at Sandro Tonali's brilliant performance and discuss what the midfield hierarchy looks like for the likes of Bentancur, Sarr, Bergvall, and Gray sitting behind Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
We also look at the attacking prospects, asking whether the club should still pursue moves for Savinho and Cody Gakpo if it means blocking the pathways of Mathys Tel and Mikey Moore. Defensively, with Andy Robertson tipped for a massive assist haul and Van Hecke and Senesi looking solid, are we comfortable with our depth after selling Djed Spence?
Finally, we discuss the breakout potential of 17-year-old Lucá Williams-Barnett, before assessing the massive goalkeeper gamble: with Guglielmo Vicario loaned to Juventus, what happens if Antonin Kinsky fails to step up, and is Martin Dubravka a reliable enough safety net?
