30 Something Women are Having an Identity Crisis | Suzanne Venker “Women are blindsided by this.”
The Ellen Fisher PodcastShow Notes
Suzanne Venker is a relationship coach and author of five books on the ways in which our culture undermines marriage and family. Her newest is called "How to Build a Better Life: A New Roadmap for Women Who Want to Prioritize Love and Family." She has spent more than twenty years exposing what she considers to be lies women have been fed about men, marriage, work and motherhood that undermine women’s ability to be successful in life and in love. She helps women make peace with men and marriage—and free them from cultural narratives that undermine this goal.
I’ve invited Suzanne to join me today because I am right here in this phase of life she’s talking about. I wanted to unpack this with her for myself, and also to see if this resonates with any other mothers listening who work - maybe who love their work - or maybe they’re just trying to help bring more income for the family with a side hustle - but at the end of the day you feel an inner struggle and want to be with your kids more and not miss their childhood that goes by so fast.

More from The Ellen Fisher Podcast
In this episode of The Ellen Fisher Podcast, I sit down with Kayde Mason and Katy Faust for a raw debate on IVF, surrogacy, and donor conception—are these modern paths to parenthood crossing ethical lines, or worth celebrating?
In this episode, I sit down with filmmaker Benjamin Nolot, who is the founder and CEO of Exodus Cry, a non profit fighting to end trafficking and sexual exploitation. We discuss the rapidly changing world of commercial sexual exploitation and the rise of platforms like OnlyFans, the emergence of AI-generated pornography, and how these technologies are reshaping cultural attitudes toward sex, intimacy, and human dignity. Benjamin also shares insights from his latest documentary, Buying Her, which exposes the often-ignored demand side of the sex trade: the men who purchase sex.
In this episode, I sit down with debt elimination expert and The Ramsey Show co-host Jade Warshaw to unpack a truth most people never hear: your money problem isn’t about your income — it’s about your emotions. Jade shares her own journey from financial stress and overwhelm to becoming debt-free, and the rock-bottom moment that forced her to confront the beliefs and behaviors driving her spending. We talk about why making more money rarely fixes what’s actually broken, the biggest lie keeping families financially stuck, and why so many high-income earners are still drowning in debt.
